That black TJ Rubi just after the vid cuts out hammered it through the top section... pretty wild to see. I wish I had my camera out for that part too. Very nice.

New Trail Update 1/7/13

My buddy Justin and I went to the New Hope/Rock Quarry Rd trails this afternoon to check them out. What ya'll have said is correct, you can tell it was graded and set up to be a new subdivision, but looked to be vacant for at least 3 years. When you first enter, you can see where the lots were going to be, with either water lines or gas lines sticking up where it had all been plumbed. Also there are concrete drainage systems scattered around, so sneaking off the trail was done with caution. The entrance is right off Rock Quarry road, so the whole pack entering at once is only asking for trouble, but once you get in, it's far enough away from everything to stay out of trouble. There were no signs at the entrance saying we can't go back there, but the tree line surrounding the whole place has signs saying "Tree Protection Area, Do Not Enter" so I stayed out of those areas.

You can ride majority of the stuff in 2wd which I thought was lame at first, but there are some pretty big mountains where the leftover dirt and massive rocks were when the lots were made. But that's where the fun began. Lots of rocks and small hill climbs made it a fun outing.

Overall, it was a decent ride, for only being about 20mins from my house in Brier Creek. I would say it's worth going at least once to see it for yourself. Some of the bigger guys might not have as much fun as the smaller rigs. But I was even grinning when crawling through the rocks and up the hills.

The pics that follow cover probably 60% of the area that we can cover. Like I said, I wouldn't stray away form the trail where the lots are because there are big drop offs where drainage had been dug and concrete laid.

Enjoy:

For those wanting to test their rig on big rocks, this is the place for you. You can make your own lines where all the boulders and rocks are to make it as easy or challenging as you want.

Rock Quarry Rd

Looks like a definite fun place to try out! I want to try to roll over those rocks and hills. As long as I get one of my control arm bushings replaced friday I'm down for Sunday!

The address for the entrance is:

5140 Rock Quarry Rd
Raleigh, NC 27610

There are different ways in, but were a little too close to houses for me. It's similar to the Page Rd trails entrance. Gotta be quick getting in and out, but doesn't require 4wd at all.

And the hill climbs look small in the pics, but are probably a 20-30 ft elevation change and required to be in 4 Lo for me.

Deep enough to make a softball sized rock throw a pretty good splash and couldn't be seen. Because I was by myself and there was no place to winch to, I backed up and decided to try it another day. I would guess it was 18" or so. But it was at a location where you would be learning pretty hard to the right and going up a hill when exiting the water. I swallowed my pride on that one haha.

There were a lot of cool technical rock/rut hills that would flex your rig out pretty good. Made me glad I had a spotter riding shotgun

weird, I didn't see anything at the Rock Quarry Rd entrance, and I could see motorcycle/ATV tracks everywhere I was. I pretty much tried to stay away from areas that could be seen from the road. Didn't know it was posted elsewhere.

But I will say if a cop wants to come back there, he could probably do so easily.

Hopefully this Friday I'll get the control arm bushing replaced, and get my Airraid CAI installed, can't wait to hear how it changes the sound of the exhaust!
