Struggled with the fuel pump replacement all day today and finally ran out of parts, daylight and patience. The new pump assembly broke and I couldn't figure out why it wasnt getting fuel pressure until I pulled it back out and saw the pickup between the pump and the pressure regulator broke. Tried using parts off the old pump assembly and ended up not working and breaking half the old brittle plastic parts on it as well. So I'm going for a last ditch effort and headed to LKQ tomorrow morning to see if they have one in a wrecked Cherokee. If so, pulling it and installing it in mine should be a walk in the park.... But so was today. Nothing in life is ever easy...

Still NO JEEP, it sucks!

Bad news: still waiting on the Dana 60 to come in.

Good news: new ball joints installed

Great news: looks like I'll be upgrading to some Chromoly front axle shafts

Have to work tomorrow night and I'm working on it in the driveway so hopefully I'll go straight from work to LKQ grab the parts and have it done by lunch or just after. Hopefully it'll all work and I'll be ready for Saturday.

Just left there about an hour ago, pulled the only 97-01 Cherokee tank they had and it was rusted out... Going to try for parts at Lowe's before I call it quits.

Had to stop into Lynnwood Grill for a couple cold ones and a pie while down here though.

Anyone have a winch that can help with a recovery in Raleigh right now?

At the Lewis Stevens and Little Road, under 540 bypass. I'm at work and can't assist, but my very good friend j54mitsu (Ryan) is at the scene. He may be able to get it out without a winch, but at this point, who knows.

Not sure how this person managed to get in this position, but I've been sent this pic:

The tires look to be a bit . . . "wanting," given what it looks to be stuck in.

I know nothing of the backstory. It's actually a Grand Cherokee.

I haven't heard anything, so if you know anyone with availability and a winch . . . .

Many thanks. I'll get an update from the scene and confirm, and post back here before then. They may of course end up getting it out with tow straps and the like before then, so I wouldn't want you to waste your time. Thanks again.

CALL IT OFF.

They got them out. After much consternation, the Grand Cherokee has been freed. Perhaps next time they will pray more forcefully to the tire gods--those street tires didn't do anybody any favors.

Many thanks.

IT'S ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *Mad scientist voice*

Finally got it back up and running. Count me back in for tomorrow. It still wants to act up from time to time, but it's an improvement. And the control arm bushings are making all kinds of racket and the ball joints are popping, but it'll take more than that to keep me from going lol. It's a Jeep thing...

Forrest, I believe it's still 8:30AM at Ray's.
