Roll Cage?

After last weekends accident I've started considering beefing up the roll cage. Anybody have any opinion about "sport cages", if I go that route I'm going to go with the Rock Hard kit and have it painted to match, but I'm unsure of how much these bolt on kits really strengthen things? Any body have any opinion on doing the bolt on Rock Hard sport cage versus a full on custom built roll cage? I know the custom cage will be the "best", but the ones I've seen eliminate the rear sound bar and I don't know how that would effect putting on the hard top. Greg at 4WP gave me reference to Carolina Truggies outside of Charlotte if I do a custom cage. What do you guys think?

Well, the new rear Drive Shaft is better than the one that fell off, but...... the new Currie Rock Jock Dana 60 on the rear is awesome. Side note the new Currie chromoly axle shafts for the front are doing well also!

Hodge Rd

hey guys, I know a bunch of trails in raleigh considering I live there, but my favorite one is Hodge Rd right were the Knightdale water tower is on 540 its border line Knightdale and Raleigh, 5 plus trails there, lots of mud and a little bit of rock crawling, but hurry and go there because theres houses going up and those trails are disappearing by the week. P.S there used to be like 10.

From my cage experience in racing, a bolt in isn't legal in most forms or organized racing and isn't even close to the strength of a fabbed up and welded cage with a munimum of 4x4 pads where it welds to the floor/chassis. Honestly, your best bet is to talk to a local speed shop and see what their prices are depending on how extensive you want your cage. If you bring it to them without interior, avagege for a 6-8 point cage installed and welded in is 1000-1500. But by far the way to go for strength.

My opinion on cages for off road vehicles is dim though. Adding a lot of weight above the suspension only makes you more likely to roll and just makes you more top heavy. Just wheel carefully and stay buckled in IMO.

Carolina Truggies is the way to go. I agree with others, go custom, welded and painted to match. Can't undo injury as you know.

I go by there everyday and some days there is a backhoe out there working, maybe once a week. I think they are working on sewer or water lines!

They honestly don't won't us out there to begin with but there are no signs.

We have seen dirt bikes out there but honestly if its a 2-stroke its liable to draw too much attention.

I like to weld the plates as well as bolt them to the frame if possible. and reinforce everything.

Parts of Uwharrie closed?

A guy was telling me 3 trails will be down as they were installing guard rails? He said Daniel was one, he said they had someone roll off the side bad last year. Is this true? If so why didn't they have the rails done the off season?

Closure Info

There's the link to the official word.

I've been paying attention to the government coming in and closing public lands for resource protection or excessive damage. There has been a big problem on the Outer Banks starting a few years ago. Now only portions are open and they charge $50 for a week pass to protect a non-native species of bird.

I'm not too informed on the politics of access to Uwharrie, but you can bet I'm learning.
