if you spread the word to Camp Lejeune, there's a huge off-roading contingency there. Marines love nothing more than filling their free time with spending money and getting muddy.

That's where I grew up and my parents still live there. Where at near Lillington?

Hmm, hadn't been on in a while and the trail ride thread turned into a gun thread. Won't hear me complain...

But here's my favorite non-SD reason for a concealed:
If you're worried about how to transport a handgun, then the concealed is a mind easer. For instance, when I visit my family I have no concerns of improper transporting if I drive one of their cars and a gun may or may not be locked in the console or even less secure (which isn't going to happen, they're responsible, but I don't have to worry regardless). Encourage other drivers (e.g. SO) to get one as well so you don't have to worry about them getting in trouble over a firearm locked in the glovebox while you leave them in the car to run an errand in a posted no-conceal property. This is all particularly handy in a Jeep when there's not many secure locations, and no clear trunk area.

Also get one out of principle, it's about being able to fully exercise a right. You're a responsible adult and this is a permission slip to act like one. Much less hoops to worry about once you have it. Of course, it's your responsibility to seek training should you desire to use the permit less for transport and more for self defense (a la Jeff Cooper's condition yellow).

South River Road Lot #4

We actually had made an offer on the land in December that was accepted. Then during due-diligence we found out that 5 of the 15 acres of it was a former landfill in the late 80s. We just didn't want to inherit the landfill. It has some nice muddy areas and rocky areas and the landfill which is covered with dirt is filled with trees and some stone that poke through in many places. Since it's full of stumps there are likely to be sinkholes opening up over time. There are some really steep grades from where it had been dug out for clay (for brick making) for many years. It's actually quite interesting and pretty land in some places. It's not zoned commercial but it previously was commercial and probably could go back to light industrial. There are a couple of trails that run around the property and it borders a closed rail bed.

I'd still be interested in owning it but we can't use it for what we originally intended.

It may have been auctioned by now. I haven't checked on it in the past couple of months.

Guys I'm dying. I haven't got mud on my jeep. I don't have school tomorrow so I was wondering one if anyone knew anywhere in RALEIGH where you can go just to get a little muddy and use 4WD. Like construction sites etc. and if anyone wanted to go?

Anywhere on base or there's a few trails off of 17 going towards Wilmington.

The tank trails are all good to go. There's a lot of construction in the Wallace Creek area that I used to hit too.

I was in 3/8 Kilo. Got out 2 months ago. Tank trails and any unmarked land is legal on base. The better trails are off of Piney Green behind the land fill. You'll see the tire trails if you go during the day.
