I'm not sure. I mean I'd have no flares at all. It would probably have the same affect that your tires have with flares but not having them might be enough to get pulled. Would look pretty good but odd.

There's plenty of people that ride around with no flares and those smittybuilt fenders( no flare) in front. Mine stick out a good 4-5" and I've never had a problem in two years.

I haven't had flares for years. And have been running my 10" wheels with 12.50s...

Ok, kinda new to the jeep thing so here goes a silly question. I have a TJ, no lift, 31x10.5s. Haven't taken it off road yet other than the beach (I know, weak right?). Really want to ride sat or sun but don't want to kill my new toy just yet. Is taking the flares off really an option? I can do it pretty quick it seems. Ideas...

If you leave your swaybars connected, you will be perfectly fine

Removing flares its really needed until you run bigger tires to solve clearance issues. In my opinion, leave them on until you have to take them off. Doesn't look to great without them unless your running aftermarket fenders or cut stock fenders.

Thanks. My tires stick out a few inches and I have around 5 inches of clearance between the flares and tires. Will the tire not rub when I get off camber?

You do not need flares. If you have side markers they should be replaced for safety sake. If the side markers incorporate turn signals like the TJ, then they must be replaced. Most LEO's won't bother unless you are somewhere you are not supposed to be and doing something you shouldn't be doing, but the inspectors will care when it comes to having it reinspected. (if they happen to notice yours is missing)

I am going to Smitty's when I need new tires and go up to 35's. I am still trying to figure out where to put the side markers. The turn signals in front I will do the JK conversion like jumelton has done.

False. Side markers are to be functional if applicable. But the past 2 yrs I have had inspection it has passed. In that idea we should have our 3rd brake light. How may wranglers have there stock third brake light? I haven't had mine for 3 years. No problems.

She's doing good, already a year old today. She LOVES the jeep, or loves to sleep in it. I think it's the rougher ride and hum of the tires. So are you coming?

I'm in the process of installing LED's in my Smittybilt tube fenders for side marker/turn signals so I want have any issues LEO's or state inspections and I going to do the JK turn signals in the grille for the front.

I believe you may have missed where I said "if the inspector notices" part.

as far as the brake light, NC General Statute says you only have to have 1 working brake light. A missing or burnt out brake light is not probable cause to stop a car as so ruled by the NC Supreme Court.

Not trying to have a peeing match with you, just trying to make sure fellow Jeepers are covered. I can honestly say that I would not stop a car because of the lack of side markers nor side marking turn signals. I do know that with all the collisions that I investigate, I will def. have side markers on my flat fenders when I do it. (merely as a safety precaution for me and my family)

(I am also not running a 3rd brake light, I will add one in the near future though, for safety sake, just today someone almost rear ended me while I was slowing to make a right turn .)
And one last note, as far as the state inspections go, they will fail you for the brake light missing, IF you get someone who knows Jeeps or catches the age and realizes the lamp is missing the same as if the lamp was burnt out. If they did not it could mean a huge fine for the shop and the "attendant" doing the inspection.
State Inspection is a completely seperate entity than General Statute.

I hope I was able to explain this adequately I am for certain not trying to have a di@& measuring contest with ya lol
