Interesting that it was replaced under warranty? Hydro is pretty serious. I don't know anyone local with that kind of set up.

Jeremy has run it on several of his older trucks. Him and I already have plans to run them on our rigs. I've priced out kits ranging from $220-$600 depending on how hands on you want to get. Hardest part is drilling and tapping the steering box. But a company will do all this for you if you choose. then mounting a ram and running the lines is about it. Maybe an overflow tank for the extra fluid you'll need.

And I'm sure you're looking at hydro-assist, not a full hydrolic steering correct? Been told those aren't good on the street.

Hydraulic Assist Steering Kit

I would say to get this kit as they're local and always have parts in stock and can fab up about anything you want.

Another place I looked at ordering from.

hydrosteering

PSC has a good hydro assist but its pricey, parts alone around $1500-1800

HOLY CRAP!!! That's outrageous. It's only a hydrolic ram, 2 lines, mounts, tapping steering box, and possibly and overflow tank. I bet ECGS would install their kit for less than that.

Yeah, I agree, I'll definitely have to look into ECGS if this one goes out in the next 10,000 miles. Does your zj have hydro assist?

No, but it needs it badly in the rocks or when I need to turn quickly. On regular trails it isn't a problem but the stock pump is screaming at me, and will leak some fluid after I try to muscle the steering wheel. I'll prob get the ECGS kit and drill and tap the steering box on my own. Fairly cheap mod that really helps big tire trucks.

Let me know if you do it. I found out why the PSC system is so expensive: the kit replace the pump/pulleys and looks like it has a pump filter also. Some guys swear by them for 40's and above, but the price is crazy. The only problem I've read about kits like the ECGS or the Redneck setup is that for 40's and above if you try to use the factory box/pump it may still not be strong enough which produces a lag in response when turning the wheel which requires you to have to rev up your RPM's to build up the pressure. You go ahead and do it so I'll know what I'm looking at when my new pump fails!

teraflex rock sliders

Took a vacation day to relax and install my Teraflex Rock Sliders.

My local hardware store didn't have the drill bits required so I started the morning with a trip up to the Lowes in Garner.

With fear and trepadation I drilled a bunch of fat holes in the side of the Jeep for the 14 nutserts. The nutserts themselves went in fine with the tool provided by Teraflex.

Everything is bolted up and cleaned up. I Really like Teraflexes products. They seem to be well thought out.

Anyway, I'm ready for another shot at Daniel. Maybe this time without body damage.

It was a LOT of drilling because I couldn't locate a rotacut bit so I had to use a combination of 3 different drill bits including a step bit on each hole.

What amazes me is how light these aluminum sliders are. They weigh about 14lbs per side (as opposed to 50lbs per side for most steel sliders I looked at) yet because of their shape and the varying thicknesses of material are supposedly as strong as steel sliders in terms of load but of course not as resistant to gouging. They should scar up nicely.

The sliders conformed perfectly to the curves on the body except where i had dents. Where they wrap under the pinch seam and mount to the underside of the tub with all it's nooks and crannies just amazes me. I'm impressed with Teraflex's design and quality control. I assume Poision Spyder stuff is also well made. My experience with some other aftermarket manufacturers hasn't been as positive.
