Are any small groups getting together in the next couple weekends on an easy Raleigh trail? Got a JK not too long ago and I've been wanting to take it off road.

It will end up being like 6-7 inch lift I believe if it's for a 4 inch lift on a zj. Typically the stock springs raise a tj around 3" if I'm correct.

What are the extended and collapsed length of the shocks? That'll help you to figure out if they'll work in your application. So if you're going to maintain your front stock shock mounts then anything over 13" of collapsed length will require bumpstopping. As for the right spring length just find out how tall the spring needs to be so that you're balanced with up and down travel when at ride height.

What he said, measure up and down travel and bumpstop accordingly. (I did not realize the ZJ coil would give that much lift to a TJ)

wait on second thought they may be way to stiff for a TJ. You probably should pass.

If you are in need of shocks I have a set of BDS for a 3-4 inch lift here that I'd give you. I ran them for about 8 months and replaced with Pro Comp Prorunners.

Ok so you are saying that the shocks will be to stiff? like wont work or just will be uncomfortable? And I dont know much about shocks or coils for jeeps but all i know is that i have a RC 2.5" lift and the shocks are already going out lol.... been just about a yr they have been installed.

I really appreciate the offer man, but trying to find a newer/ new pair of shocks.

It's not about the stiffness of the shocks it's their physical length that will determine if they'll work for your application. So if possible tell the guy you're buying them from to measure them fully collapsed and then fully extended. Then just throw them up here and I'll help ya with a comparison between typical lift heights and the length of shocks to be used. And if you offroad at all and don't have your bumpstop s set then that could be why your current shocks crapped out although rough country is well known for having poor quality/riding shocks anyways

Xj.. hmmm not too sure. I know the zj front springs will. I actually purchased the OME zj 2" springs in the hope I'll actually get 2/3" of lift for my heavy lj. I'm going to replace my rear ome springs with some more hd springs and a small spacer to level it out but my shock lengths will still be perfect since they're designed for a 2.5" lift anyways. Sorry for the slight tangent but I figured it'd be useful with some of the current questions.

Alright well the reason I asked is because I got a set of fronts for free off of a friend. I'll put them on Friday and see how it is

Just look up the spring rate for the stock xj spring and measure its free length. You can compare these numbers to your current spring length and rate and then have a good idea of what's going to happen. If the lengths were the same and the rates were different then the spring that had the higher rate would provide more lift which is equivalent to less compression of the spring. If they are different lengths and rates then it takes a little bit more work but you have to remember springs are just springs. They are a function of material, wire diameter, and length. Really not too complicated when you think about it
