A thread to discuss meet ups, trail rides, and events for Raleigh NC and surrounding areas.

Absolutely! There are quite a few good ones and several that I just went out today to but wanted to wait until I had a few other to run with. The ones I know of are fun and there isn't a worry about getting stuck.

There are two really good ones in Garner right beside the Jeep dealership there and one in Cary that begins at the intersection of Evans rd and Morrisville Carpenter rd. Also the page rd exit 282 from I-40 has some good trails too!

cmon! 47 people have viewed this thread and none have added any info about good places to go wheelin?

I've been there and it might just be me but I didn't like it very much. Almost every trail can damage your vehicle even the Falls Dam or Wolf Den trails which are rated the easiest. There are no just off road fun trails that take you through the woods without banging your Jeep's skid plates or driving over things you could get caught on. I might try it again to see if I missed something?

Cool guys--didn't know about the ones in Cary/Raleigh, etc. I will have to check them out! Can't go this weekend, but maybe next weekend if you all make plans....I will follow this thread and see.

I didnt realize all of you were here in the Raleigh area!! Hell yeah i'm down but this next month is no good, stupid army school i have to go to, they tend to not like it when you dont show to those kinds of things. But when I get back def!!! I enjoyed Uwharrie, theres also one in Mountain city Tn called Calliente (i think), a buddy and I went to 4th of July weekend, GREAT TIME!! We should all get together one weekend and hit something, big or small.

So, I went out today and embarrassed myself trying to even *find* the Uwharrie trails. I went to Troy, NC. Found a dinky ranger station with NO info on the Offroad trails (plenty of info on hiking, BTW...).

How does one get to the beginner/newb trails at Uwharrie? I need specifics. :) I drove around and around the perimeter of what I thought was the forest, but saw no trails to go off on. Do tell...

It's off 109 and to buy a pass it's at the Eldorodo Outpost. It's a BP gas station with a kareoke guy singing out front... yes.

It's like a big ol' country store/gas station and the entrance is south of that about 1/8 mile. I came in from the North.

Hi Shell, I will try to find that trail. Hopefully it's not too technical for a newb like myself. :)

Hey-don't feel bad. I am on my second TJ, but still consider myself a newb to the trailing thing. I have taken both off-road, but nothing serious. I have been too chicken, as they have both been daily drivers. I am wanting to get into more myself, so hopefully a group will form here for a trip and we can all get brave together! :D

You should have grabbed a map from the outpost. Lost of nice trails I and a few friends are going this thursday if you want to meet up we hit the outpost at 10 am
Wish I could go, but was out of town some last week and have to get some stuff done here. :(

Let me know when someone is going on a weekend!!!!! I will be there!!!:punk:

Anyone want offroad this Thu (10/7) or Sun (10/10)

This is my first Wrangler (stock version) and want to try it offroad without dinging it up. New to offroading.

Uwharrie sounds like a good place from this forum posts. Also from earlier in this post "There are two really good ones in Garner right beside the Jeep dealership there and one in Cary that begins at the intersection of Evans rd and Morrisville Carpenter rd. Also the page rd exit 282 from I-40 has some good trails too!" - wondering if anyone else has tried these and what they thought?

If anyone is interested and knows a local Raleigh area place to offroad I have this Thu and Sun open. Willing to try Uwharrie also.

Uwharrie is a good place but be careful there. You can seriously bang up your Jeep quickly just even on the simple trails. Definitely recommend trying it out though! The one on Evans is private property so I wouldn't do that and so is the other in Garner. you need permission from the land owner to get out there. Just a word of advice. Page rd is still under a lot of construction and there are lots of places. Some of them have been blocked by dirt I think deliberately but they are still tearing up everything out that way. There is a mud place not to far from Raleigh about 30mns that some of us might be checking out this weekend. Not sure quite yet though. If you ever just want to go for a drive through some of the woods around here with another Jeeper, let me know- I'm always up for it!

If you are willing to drive to the other side of Clayton this weekend when I get everything worked out, me and some other guys are going for a little mudding! My son will probably go also, he's 8!
