Virginia ATV Trails

The other option is getting (written) permission from private landowners near you.

I live in Portsmouth too. I know some private land out in driver that my boy owns has about 2 miles running through out the woods and we plan on expanding it. And a mud/ dirt bike trail in the front. As far as camping off roading you have George Washington NF which is awesome. Hat field McCoy trails. Give me a shout if you trying to go out some time....

not that im aware of-- frankly ive never even had to present my permit; i would recommend bleeding your tires a bit cause the trail is real rocky (small rocks...bumpy ride) theres a lot of stations within 10 miles of the entrances where you can fill up afterwards

if we dont end up arranging something for the campgrounds (and you want some another rider) id be interested in coming out to meet you guys friday

Ill be getting there around or after 11 pm friday. I live a ways away. And we're gunna wake up around 7-8 am (sleepin in parking lot) to go on the easy trails. Deflate tires to 15 psi right??

And yep we're still going for sure. Would you like to meet us out there around 730 or 8 am saturday?

not sure on how low to deflate but 15 sounds solid--my bleeder sucks and just getting it down to 22 takes forever; i can probably come out saturday, i dont think i can get out there that early though, probably noon at earliest, how long are you guys be riding?

also, there are a few camp grounds in GWNF, and depending on where you enter the trails there are some big lots a half mile in where you can post up, set up a fire and what not

saturday run

Hey lucky, we could meet you out there by 8...it'd be tough to get out there much earlier as I'll be coming in from DC. Want to meet at one of the stations off 81 to bleed the tires and gas up? :thumb:
Hey we could probably meet you at 8. But we should meet at the trail entrance and bleed the tires then. We'll be camping so I guess we will see ya in the morning maybe! Just curious, how many people would be coming in your group and how old are ya? I don't know how long after 8 we could wait cause we gotta get back around 1.. but this could work :thumb:

i think so as well;

there are actual campgrounds to the side of the road that runs through the GWNF where they have fire pits and whatnot, but, if you enter at peters mill run and go half a mile in there are 2 lots where people camp out and make their out fire pits etc...one of them already has a pit

Hey Alex,

We'll get down there as quickly as we can and plan to be there by 8. It will just be me, my girlfriend and the Rubi. I'm 34 (but my gf swears I don't act it). How many will be in your group?

If you could fwd your cell that would be helpful...mine is 757.503.3592.

Looking forward to seeing you guys out there!

Brian
