Using hi lift to winch chains or straps

I wanted to know what's better chains or straps when you use hi lift to winch? What size and length?

Straps because when chains break where you will be standing it may really hurt.

Before I had a winch I used the hi lift a

I always carry at least 60 feet of straps, (3 20s)..

Oops,,,, Wrong.button,,, before I had a winch I used my hi lift on many occasion for winching.. I always carried at least 60 ft of straps, and about a 10 ft length of chain.. I used the chain to cinch up.. It's nearly impossible to cinch a strap up so the chain is about the only way.. I have a winch now, still carry the straps but no more chain..

I use chains to winch, theres no stretch to a chain like in a strap, for added length I have 2 30' lengths of 3/8 cable.
