Gods country.

As promised, some pics! I was kinda busy driving through a mountain by myself, so I didnt get to take pics of the technical stuff, but just picture driving through a mountain that only ATVs pass through every once in awhile, and youll get a picture of the technical level Mostly very very Rubicon 4 Low / axles locked slippery hill climbs and descents, with some GORGEOUS scenery along the way.

Theres a lot, and they are big files (meant to be printed at 2888x2100 resolution) so it might take awhile

Found this thermometer on the side of the fourth house on the property. This house sits way out in the woods, with its own private driveway, about 150 acres away from the other three farm houses. I thought it was neat, looks real old too.









We have lots of oil pump stuff hidden throughout our farm. Our property is recorded to be the largest natural gas well ever found in the entire world (Big Moses, WV - in Tyler county, look it up ) and we also used to do very well with pensoil. They stoped the pumps a few months ago though, not sure why

I tried to capture just how breathe takingly beautiful it really is up in the mountains by yourself, but it didnt work out too well Gotta see it for yourself I guess. Thats what the random woods pictures are. Its amazing how different animals are here too. We were pinning up a target on a tree out on the trail, maybe 3 miles into the mountains, and 20 seconds later a deer just walks out from behind the tree we were pinning the target on, looks at us, and runs away Anyway, hope you all like em, I had a blast. Rubicon did very well, but the trails havent been used very often, and even in the Rubi it was a little difficult. Thank god for the Mountains and Jeeps!

Well im still "there" technically I guess. I am about 100 miles north of that property, visiting my grandma. I will be headed back there late tonight, then back to MD tommorrow some time

Thanks AD. I was in Weirton monday night (like 7pm) untill tuesday ~1:00pm. I was gonna send ya a PM, see if you were up that way, but I was so busy with my Grandma, and the rest of my family thats local in the area, I never really had time. I did take 507/22 around and a couple side roads, didnt find anything right around Weirton. Next time Ill have to let ya know when I am coming up so we can go ride around for a little. I wasnt expecting to go to Weirton, or I would have told ya before I spent Saturday and Sunday at the farm in Tyler, then my pops showed up and had me follow him to Weirton kind of without warning

Anyway, hope you all enjoyed the pictures!! Figured it wasnt every day that those AZ/TX boys got to see some good ole' beautiful mountains

The SKS pictures are in the "other hobbies" thread that you posted in. I just said "AK round" so the non-gun people knew what I was talking about. As far as I know, both SKS and AKs use a 7.62x39 (both are Kloshnikov rifles anyway). I only worded the phrase that way so people didnt have to google "SKS round"

BTW, useless trivia, the SKS and AK do use the same round but they aren't both Kalishnikovs.
The AK47 (Avtomat Kalashnikova 47, Kalashnikov automatic rifle, model 47 ) was developed by Mikhail Kalashnikov as a select fire Assault weapon.

The SKS (Samozaryadnyj Karabin Simonova = Simonov Self loading Carbine) was designed by Sergei Simonov as a semi auto only.
They use a different gas system even though they look similar.

Ya I knew they arent the same weapon, but I was under the impression that the same gentelmen developed both? SKS first, than the AK for Select Fire? Guess I was told wrong!

Great pics.. looks like u had a blast and yes pics dont really do these mountains justice.. i personally live in the southern part of wv.. (Fayette County) and have to say theres some insane mountains to drive up around here..

Tell me about it... in 6th with 31s and 4.11s, my Jeep is turning about 3,000 rpms at 70-75. Coming up 68/79 it was 5th-6th-5th-6th non stop

AD- Actually I did I have been curious about that damn hurrican club, ever since I was a kid. I made my GF go inside, and see if the girls were cute and what the deal was. She walked across the street, started opening the door, and the owner met her there at the door (was walking down). He said she needed to give him $3 or she couldnt even check it out to see if it was worth it. She threw the door open, took a quick peek, and ran back to the Jeep Said I was better off waiting till we got home, and going to Baltimore Thats pretty bad when youd rather go to Baltimore, so I didnt question her and keep on trucking to 507

Beautiful pics. Hard to get good scenery shots in the woods like that, but I can appreciate that area. I LOVE that area. Hope you had enough recovery equipment if you got stuck! :O

Well, I brought a shovel attached to the front bumper in the factory mount, and some tow straps. If I actually got stuck up there, I have a Suzuki Samurai and a bunch of 4 wheelers at the house I could have called on, but I wasnt too worried about it. Back where our property is, the field is the only real muddy part, the rest is all just steep slippery hill climbs, scenic trail, and steep slippery decents If you get "stuck" on a hill climb, thats what 4:1 and lockers are for Otherwise, you can always just back down and choose a different trail.

I don't mount my rifles in my Jeep. I live in Maryland full time, and we have California laws here... Its too much of a PITA to give a firearm period, let alone have it on you outside your property. Infact, its litterally impossible to get a CCP here.. We have 0 RKBA On the way there, I folded the seat forward, layed the Henry accross my CloverPatch window roll bag ontop of some suit cases, with a blanket on top, and the SKS behind the tailgate overtop the wheelhousing. On the way home, I had the back seat down(not tumbled), with the SKS laying on the rear cupholders over a pillow, and the henry in the trunk.
