GS, I've got the whole week off. So I can get there early Friday. I'm coming over from Central NJ.

What do you think would be more important it get for this trip. Engine/tranny skid or rock sliders?

Diff skids then sliders is what I'd recommend.

diffs then sliders then engine. Belly is up there too. I have only used my (homebrew) rock sliders probably twice, but I was glad I had them because they saved some bad tub damage. I use diffs all the time and belly a good bit too. I have never come close to my oil pan except when I was stock and I dented it... lol. I am gona try and weld one up if I have time before Rausch... I am cranking out this swap but it's not going fast enough. And a ton of rain in the forecast... I should still be good but I need to test fit my x member asap.

My reason for the engine/tranny skid is because I put a pretty foot sent in my oil pan last time out. The rock sliders was more of needing an excuse to replace the nerf bars.

Then armor up. Buy the steel and weld yourself up a set of sliders.

I don't have to buy the steel I work in a steel mill and haw access to all the steel I could ever need. Anywhere from .181 all the way up to .500. I just don't have to tools to work with steel that thick

Nothing to cut it at work? Worse case go 3/16 you can cut the line with angle grinder and finish with saws all pretty quick.

Sliders. If not for those, I would have no more pinch welds.

I've had quite a few people asking about running certain trail level. I think there will be no issue matching everyone up with a group once we get to talking Friday night. Planning ahead never hurts though.

Steve that sucks but I know what you mean though.

Gix I haven't used a skid but I like the psc riddler and solid covers.

I'm running the rcx covers, they are cheap and get the job done. Hit them on several occasions.

Btw what time is everyone getting there Friday? Is it an early day and hit the trails, or a meet/greet later in the day, and start wheeling sat AM?

From what ive read the riddler and solid covers cause major clearance issues eith the track bar on the dana 30 and 44. Im going to be going with the barnett cover. No clearance issues with it that ive read about.

I have the PSC myself steve (same as riddler) with no issues, and a solid going in the rear.

I'll be running milder trails. I can mostly lead from what I remember as long as one person has a winch to get me out of a sticky situation. I'm sure it won't be a problem, but insurance is nice.

I was just basing what I said on what I read in unlimited's thread. I know he was saying with the solid cover up front he had to grind the hell out of it to clear the track bar without adding about 3 inches of bumpstops.

I believe that with the front. The rear I think depends on application.

I'll be in a hotel close by on Friday night, so my Dad and I won't be meeting you guys until bright and early Saturday at the Park. Just want to make sure we know what time to be there? Be a bitch to come from CT and miss everyone Saturday morning!

You are welcome to stop by friday night if you come in at a decent hour, there isn't any admission to the campy grounds that I know of. I can't remember off the top of my head what time the park office opens. I am thinking like 7. But everyone has to get their pass for the day and then we meet up outside and group up and head out. First day it usually takes a little longer and Sunday people usually just take off with their group from the day before.

I have time for one more mod beforr this trip. It's either a rokmen engine/tranny skid or a barrnet diff cover for the dana 30. Keep in mind I've already changed the fluid twice in the past 4 months.

I'm interested in coming up Sat morning and staying till Sun. I have a stock JK and its my daily driver so I prefer to stay on the greens. I'm an off road virgin, I hope that's ok, I wanted to get some experience in before the topless for tatas event in Aug. Does anyone that is running the greens have a winch? Also, the web site said that the office opens at 8:00 am.

Engine/Tranny skid hands down. It's easier to keep diff covers off of the rocks IMO. Saying that, I've scrapped both though.
