Tober, you and the wife are surely welcome.

Vasyl, you are welcome to bring friends if you want. Might as well invite them to join WF while your at it

Haha daggo, is that what you told her? I thought you would have some other means of persuasion.

She has seen pictures of Rausch and she has seen some hard core Jeeps, such as the Quadratec Jeep in person that run there. She wanted to make sure we could make the 3 hour ride home.

Awh. I want to show you guys the place I wheeled with, River Raider had jeeps there but they wheeled the day I didn't go.

I just got some picks from the club forum. But I am really excited about this place because its 20/25 minutes from me, and will be free once I become a member. And awesome people too. I am psyched for Rausch as well, and I will be going to school 20 mins from rock run in the fall. like, I can't go wrong

Just out of curiosity, how many of you plan on camping over the weekend? If I can make it you will see my hammock strung up between two trees and a camo tarp over it. I think I'm gonna steal my fathers Toyo Tundra and flat tow the TJ.

Sure, its not an official event or anything, just some people meeting at the same place at the same time. I just don't want to really drag a non-wrangler around but other than that all are welcome

New to this thread -- but I am a fan of Rausch --- going to try and talk the wife into this but I dont think the baby (who will be 9 months in July) would be able to handle the ride ... But I will do my best to get on this!Do they have more camping space then that one tiny space next to the entrance???

Go to harbor freight and and get the camo one. I think the one I bought is 9x11 ft. utility tarp. Its camo one side and solid green on the other.

How do you do your suspension so water doesn't run down your hammock lines?

Pretty much. On the right side as your pulling into entrance.

Fair Warning....Rausch Creek stinks!!...Literally. They have been hauling in tons of mulch for camping area renovations.

Well, I have only camped in the hammock once. Right now I have the ENO slapstraps which attach to the hammock with a caribiner. My guess would be if it starts to rain the water would hopefully run down the straps to the excess strap that hangs down, or the caribiner and drip off from there.

Heres a pic. Probably can't make out much. Next time I'm going to turn the tarp the other way. So its longer. I think I had the shorter side spanning across the hammock. Thats how it looks anyway.

Whoopie slings and tree straps will be on order soon.

I'm camping. Either in my jeep (if that's allowed) in a hammock I buy or Wes may have mentioned he had an extra!? I should just buy one. Any good brands/suggestions.

Eagles Nest Outifitters (ENO) should be readily available at an REI store or similar. If you don't mind ordering look into Grand Trunk, Warbonnet, or again ENO. If you buy one do yourself a favor and get the "double" size, and also buy a foam sleeping pad to lay on in the hammock. Body temperature drops real quick when there is nothing but air between you and the ground, lol.

Rei has a huge huge distribution/manufacturing plant like 15 mins from me. I however have no idea where a store is. Isn't tht funny. I might be able to get a friend who works there to hook me up I have a few.

Not a bad setup. Mine uses a cleat and loop system so i may just tie a length of rope to each end and hope it drips down.

If you want to get cozy we can share my two man tent. My other hammock is a POS and you'll most likely freeze unless its just super warm out. Or you can sleep in your jeep.

Agreed with all of the above. I need to figure out a better under-insulation.

How do you keep the bugs off you? Bugs love me, and i have horrible reactions to the bites. And how much was that hf cover. Rei has the hammocks on sale.

I've never had too much trouble with bugs. I imagine the tarp keeps a lot away and if you wanted you could hang bug netting.

With this....

Interesting part is the bug net is more $$$ than the hammock.
The HF tarp was like $10

Sweet price on the tent/covering. I will just wear long sleeves and throw something over my face. I got bit last week in Ohio and it swelled literally a circle 3 inches in diameter and about half an inch out on my lower under forearm. Idk why I react so bad.
