WF SoCal in Borrego Springs...

Couldn't have been a better day today......

.....hitting the trails with three WF buddies and a couple of friends. Unlimited, who's really Brian, led lilredwrangler (Larry), his buddy Don, Iamagolfspaz (Mike) and me (tiny terr.... chris), my son Jon and his buddy Mike (Silent, a new member here) to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park to run an "easy" (in Brian's mind I think) trail...

Well, as much as I hate to admit it, this was my first real trail. I realized that up until now I've been cruising dirt roads and spinning through mud puddles.

I think I can speak for everyone that a good time was had by all, though I thought Larry was trying to hit every rock on his way up (kidding Larry, really).

Brian brought us to the first climb and I thought no freaking way. I'm not taking my baby, the first vehicle I have ever considered making a place for in my living room, up that stinking pile of rocks...... but I have a bit of an ego, and I hate to quit... and I think Brian could have lead a yugo up those rocks.

We had a blast. I'm going to crop up my pictures and start posting them. Thanks Brian, I had a blast.

you have great trails over there. i´d like to have anything like that here in europe.
when i see those pictures i wish that i find the time sometimes to stay longer in CA than 1-2 days. then i would rent a jeep and go for a trail like that...perhaps this dream willcome true in thefuture...

It was really amazing to meet a group of people who've been interacting with each other only in words on a screen. We met at Starbucks at 8:00 am.... though we were all pretty early. We hung there until a little after 8 and made sure no one else was coming then headed out to meet GolfSpaz a half hour down the road.

I love when people are on time.

While we stood around at Starbucks we bs'ed and compared and Brian showed me exactly how to install my CB. He also lent me the meter thing to tune it (and gave me a kickin' tow hook)

Joke of the day was me not being able to figure out how to put my beastie into 4Low and struggling up half the first hill in high.... oh and the fact that whoever was supposed to bring me a phone book to sit on forgot and I couldn't see a dang thing. (ha, beat you all to it )

Is that Ocotillo Wells?
I've been there 1 time to go ride quads, it didn't turn out well...
Watch out for sink holes, seriously. sink holes can ruin your whole day.

Cool pics and glad you guys had fun.

It was Cougar Canyon in Borrego Springs.

And I don't think the wrack looks like that much fun, plus, longer legs is fine, but I'd like my knuckles not to drag the ground.

Looks like you all had a great run. Glad you all got to meet up. I think just might be the largest actual WF gathering to date.

So Tiny, I take it you had a blast on your first trip out?

Since Silent hasn't introduced himself, I'll do it ... ain't I pushy.

My son is on the left and Silent is on the right. I converted him slowly through brainwashing to the jeep thing while he was eyeing mustangs. I think I should get a star, or a point, or a hash mark on the jeep or something...

AGAIN AGAIN!!!

Yeah, I had a blast. I'd go out again today if I could. And thing about this being the largest gathering, we had two or three more that just couldn't make it this time. But they will next time I think....
