Cool 1st time wheeling in my Jeep.

Went wheeling for the first time today. All of these roads are public access roads. Some are maintained and some are not.

Disclaimer: Major snorefest for anybody thats not new to wheeling Jeeps (like me)

Many of the roads were like this. Anything could travel on them except for just a few places. (water crossings mostly, as there are no bridges.)

Had to stop here on one of the unmaintained roads to get some pictures.

There were some parts that a Geo Metro couldn't have gone through...

Had to turn around just after that last shot because the Dodge pickup I was following couldn't fit down the trail without getting into the ditch.

Dry creek bed.

One of me.

Dude.. that wasn't a "snorefest" at all.. nice pics. Great virgin run. In fact.. that's the kind of simple drives I like.. I call them "exploring."

I wanted a Jeep in the first place so that I could go exploring on trails that were less traveled. I still do that and save the more agressive stuff for when going with larger groups. Looks like a great time.

Never ever, understimate your Jeep though!

Even stock, they dont call them the ultimate offroad vehicles for a reason, they are serious offroad. Even stock!

Just like turdhurdler said I love to trail ride just to go places that most don't! There is a small MT in Heavener Oklahoma called Pine Mt You do have to have a 4x4 to get up it (old logging road) but once you get up there it is nothing but tall pines as far as you can see and there mostly gravel and rock roads but there are smi. deep mud holes some water crossings as well Good fishing holes and hunting! That is where I like to go to get away and play!

That's my "Don't sunburn the top of my head" hat. I cut my hair very short and my head got burned recently. Walked around scratching it like I had fleas for a week.

Looks like a place you could go and really enjoy the sights and still know you could deal with the rough road or a hole now and then. Great pics!

Looks like a lot of fun. You've been posting so much that I forget you just got your Jeep.

I grew up in a small Oregon logging town, and my dad always had Jeeps. So I learned to drive, really, on roads like this.

It's still my favorite type of "off-roading." I much prefer a quiet back road to the big-rock grinding hardcore stuff.

PS: Stay the trail. I know that's not you in the meadow, but it doesn't look like a kosher spot to drive. Keep those roads open, and beautiful!

Yeah, suspected "wildcat" wheeling will get your thread pulled...

Lots of roads like that down here where I'm at in Oregon. I'm just waiting for the Steens Mountain loop to open so we can up there next.

As far as I am concerned, any off road trail is just fun. I like to discover places that no one has gone before ( or so few).
A big bravo to you for not taking your new Jeep in a place where to many people brought theirs after buying a new one ( Hardcore trails) just to brake it ( blaming the Jeep for their short comings as drivers).

I hope to see more pics of your adventure.

I just saw this since I was away for the weekend.

Geoff,
If you notice in the lower right hand of the picture you will see my hood. I was right behind the Dodge and we were in the process of turning around when that pic was taken because we feel the same way. A numbered "road" led to that field and dead ended there. (sort of) There were tracks across the field but it was by no means traveled so we turned around. LBL is controlled by the US Forrest Service and those guys absolutely do not play. I definitely Respect the Resource , also I have no desire to have my new Jeep confiscated and/or be jailed for mashing down their hay.
