9-18-10: Stanton, Texas - "outback adventure track"

Well I finally made it out to the closest ATV park. The owner was a great guy, very friendly, and wanted me to come back so I could help widen some of the trails.

We had a great time. This is nothing extreme, but for West Texas its pretty impressive 640 acres (1 section) of land to play on.

If I do post any videos MUTE them. unless you are in the Navy, and love to hear swearing. I'm serious.

I am up in Lubbock and that wouldn't be that far of a drive for me would it be worth the drive down there some time to go wheeling.

If you like mudding, a large part of the property is a "dried up lake bed". except right now its not so "dried"...apparently some of it stays rather nasty. The pics above are in the "easy" areas...I really didn't feel like getting stuck so I stayed away from the deep/nasty mud

I am uploading pre-muted vids to youtube now. these are of some of the "trails". only bad part is the videos really don't show you the elevation changes. To me it was a lot of fun. but this is the only offroad park I've ever been to....so I'm comparing it to alleys, and such.

First video I am recording as a buddy drives - I kept forgetting I was recording, as I was telling him to give it more or less gas...Next time I'll take my window mount for my camera....and I'll use a real camera VS my iphone.

I'm hoping to get my buddies explorer's 4WD working again soon....so he can drive his own vehicle. (I also need to check on tow hooks for his since I'm confident I will be yanking him out.)

Just give me a call if you wanna go out there. I had a blast, so I'll go whenever. He may/may not be able to come since he works lots of weekends. but if we go early it should be good.

We were the only people there until nearly 12 noon. The owner said that some days its slammed/packed. and others its very quiet, he just never knows.

My driveway is a mess and I've only washed the undercarriage.

You are in luck. virtually every good offroading in Texas is on your side of the state.

lonestarjeepclub.org should be able to help you out....

or post something in the "TEXAS" section here. there's a bunch of central/east Texas people here.
