I know those pics don't do it any justice to being there, but..that looks amazing.

They don't, but we took as many as we could to try.

Very cool! I think I would definately have to double check my brakes before heading out on some of those trails. I didn't see any runaway truck ramps.

I'm so insanely jealous of this trip. I love Colorado and wished I lived there. When you go wheeling like this, do you go alone? what do you pack for those "what if's"?

Yes. On black bear especially. No brakes there would be death.

Red Cone was a lot of fun. The first half is fun and rocky/ mildly challenging, and the top half is drop dead gorgeous.

We had planned to meet some locals that I know from another forum, but they all bailed on me for one reason or another. Ran Red Cone alone, but saw other people around. ATVs mostly. Started BBR alone, but overtook a stock TJ just like mine, and followed them the rest of the way. It was their second time on the trail. First was in 1989.

I took the tools I always carry on the trial, plus some food and water. Nothing really major in the way of spares. I have a set of spare rear axle shafts, but they need to be removed from the axle that they're in. I don't worry about breaking anything because I'm overbuilt for 33s, and I'm easy on the go pedal.

Josh, I was telling John (Red TJ John) about your goat pics today. We are planning on going to Moab in summer 2014. I might even make it a two week adventure so that I spend a few days in Colorado. It would be great to take a larger group including a Kentucky contingent. Join us! My best guess is me, John in red TJ, and Gale JKU on 33". It is far enough out that we might be able to align our trips next time.

Okay, I know this is an older thread, but these pics are amazing. I went on a 14er trip to CO this summer, and I've been hooked ever since.

How difficult were the trails?

Webster / Redcone

These are my home trails although I have to admit to running Georgia more often. I've lived in the are for a while now and have loved all the local trails. Now I'm moving to WA for a year for work, sailing, boating and fresh seafood. I'll be renting out my house here which does boast a three bay garage with a floor lift and other shop infrastructure, a short drive to the trails one way and Denver the other. Let me know if anyone is interested.

Great pics, got a noob question for you... what lift/tires would be needed for the trip on all 3 trails?

I'm going to Moab in the first half of 2014 Rod. Not sure of exact dates yet. I'll have 2-4 Jeeps with me.

Technically? Easy. I'd do them in any stock Wrangler. The consequences for screwing up? Disastrous. The view? Incredible!

Great! I can put these on my can do list before needing tires/lift kit!

I'm doing the San Juan Mountains for 4th of July. There's supposed to be a bunch of people going there that weekend. We will be there Wednesday thru Sunday.
