First Legit Off-Road

Today I took my jeep offroad, legit offroad for the first time, went with my work buddy and one of our bosses. Work buddy has a rubiJKU. Pictures and video [of my TJ] Monday hopefully, boss is throwing them all on a disk for me.

I was nervous, not sure how she'd do, and affraid of those first scrapes and dings.

Here's a photo of us before we left and a video of my buddy scraping his JKU's lengthy undercarriage on a big ol' rock. My camera skills are horrible, I was paying too much attention to what my buddy was doing and not enough to where my phone was pointing. This slope has a 1-2 foot drop at the bottom, his bumper catches, and thats the loud scrape you hear at the end. My TJ cleared it a little more gracefully.

I've had my jeep since 2006 I've taking it down dirt roads and drove on the beach and through some mud. Today was more serious stuff though. I only have factory skids, the guy in the Rubicon has made skids for eveything under his - and he uses them. I'm still timid

I think a 4" lift on a JK would look good. actually seems pretty standard to me.

Update

Got some pix from my boss today. My TJ did pretty well. Still waiting on some video though.
This is me going down the same rock he bellied on

My buddy was giving me a hard time about this puddle. He said I wouldn't be a "real jeep guy" until i went through it. Didn't even get the carpet wet. When he hit it with his JKU he got his loafers soggy. [new found love for my 7" fenders]

i think as long as the jk had 35's or bigger a 4" would look darn good! i have a 5 1/2" with 35's its a tj but i wish i had an unlimited jk. and if you wanna see some awesome jk videos go to youtube and search project jk those jeeps are extremely nice! always watch those videos and makes me wanna wheel instantly.

HA!

It was a last minute decision and little to no thought was put into the videography. I have learned from my erroneous ways.
