First time stuck! I done good.

I suppose it had to happen sooner or later.

You see, what had happened was... I forgot that rule about only backing up in a straight line. There was a little break in the high banks on the trail, but still high enough that when the back tires started to climb, the front slid down and pinned me nose-to-tail across the trail. Those dig holes were less than a second on the throttle when it happened. The dirt out here is sandy loam, and much sandier than loamier.

Second lesson learned: I was wheeling alone (well, I had a buddy with me, but only a single vehicle), and my recovery kit consisted of a the entrenching tool you see stuck in the ground. Luckily, my buddy answered his phone and drove out with a hand crank come-along designed for working on cranes. Hooked up to the frame rail at the back and just drug the ass around until I was parallel with the trail once again.

Cost me one twelve pack of Leinenkugle's, and I agreed to help him wax his truck to buff out the scratches he got while two tracking to come get me.

Not too shabby for a first mistake.

Nice. Stuck is temporary, but the lesson learned from the situation lasts.

Did you air down, ? Always air way down on sand. Like 10-12 pounds if ya ain't got bead locks.

Those tires actually aren't terrible. They are some off-brand 30" with semi-aggressive tread. Not what I would have bought, but they came on the rig.

Normally, I don't need to air down when I'm on the trails. They are easy enough to navigate... when you actually stay on them. That was my mistake, backing up and turning. The hill you have to come down to even get back to that spot is much, much nastier than where I got stuck, a sandy wash that gets rutted out occasionally. I have no problems getting up that, even with fully aired up tires.

But yeah, once I get this erroneous thing cleared up with the government, my build will include some 33" MTs, a 4" lift, a new rear axle with an e-locker, and eventually (hopefully at the same time) a 350tbi and transmission. Down the line I may put an e-locker in the front as well.

Before any of that though, I'm going to pick up a hi-lift and some straps.

You around MN or WI? Leinenkugle's is a WI beer not sure if they sell it all over or not. I have some friends and family down south who have never heard of it
