GoneMoab - My trip to Moab with the Nissan guys

Well once a year I make the 7 hour trip with a few friends to Moab for GoneMoab. (Gathering of Nissan Enthusiasts). Since I owned a few nissan 4x4s in the past its been all Ive known about Moab, plus its alot cheaper then Easter Jeep Safari. Over 130 Nissan owners showed up for a week long even with a trail each day, but several to choose from each day. Ive made some good friends out there that I keep in touch with. Now that I own a Jeep I had to do something special to blend in this year. The jeep performed much better on the slick rock then my old Xterra or frontier could but theres always pros and cons. The short wheel base in the TJ is something new to me and I found out first hand how that could be a disadvantage and/or an advantage depending on the line I took. I had a great time with minimal down time due to breakage. Power steering pump went out on the drive to Moab and then the Oreily replacement started leaking the next day on Fins and things. Got it figured out by tuesday though. Anyway I'll let the pics tell the story.

6 days of Trails
Sunday - Fins and Things
Monday - Golden Spike
Tuesday - Poison Spider
Wednesday - Kane Creek
Thursday - Metal Masher
Friday - Steel Bender

I'll be going back with them in May, next year.

Thanks. The wheel was only in the air for a second. I knew it was gonna happen due to a shorter wheel base, just wasn't sure how much. That's a great obstacle to take lunch on when your on the trail with 12+ trucks

Funny thing happened on Fins and things. We had a group of Jeeps drive up while we were spotting some people up one of the steeper obstacles. The jeep guy goes to me, atleast one of you guys in the group has some sense. (implying only jeeps can offroad). I asked him if he saw my grille yet. Well he takes a look and was like who did that to ya? I told him it was self inflicted and he kind of looked disgusted when i said that. He did tell me nice jeep and to have fun, but the my nissan buddies got a kick out it.

That grill is hilarious. Good to see your TJ out there showing the import crowd how to wheel

How did those Yokahama MT's handle the terrain? I have some, but haven't been wheeling on that kind of stuff.....Yet!
