Jeep Jamboree - Cullman, AL 10/31 - 11/2/13

A few pics from our Jeep Jamboree (I'm one of the trail guides) at Cullman, AL this past weekend. I was tailgunner for the easy/moderate group, but by the second day, we were doing more of the challenging obstacles and really putting these guys to the test. They all did AWESOME and most were stock height and riding on AT's (not the best choice for Alabama mud)...

My daughter driving my TJ while I got photos...

I got videos using my GoPro, but haven't fully edited them yet. They were shot inside my dashboard, so I've now decided I need a mount for OUTSIDE the jeep so I'm not filming behind dirt. Lesson learned.

Sad thing is though that the cameras don't capture the steepness of some of the stuff we did... but here are a couple I've done some work on...

Coming soon. once photobucket wakes up...

Between the prerunning and trail marking and the jamboree itself, it was 5 days of sun, dirt, trees, and being outside with the Jeep. Truly awesome!

Good photos and it looks like you all had a mighty fine time.

It's hard sometimes to capture how steep a hill really is, with a camera. From what I see here, you were on some pretty doggone steep terrain!

Regards, CW

It was a really fun time.

Here's an example of going up one of the hill climbs. Lower half was easy, but the upper half was really rutted and had a good bit of rocks. It was interesting!

Thanks, Eddie! Glad to see you finally joined up on a forum.

Here's a link to the videos I shot during the Jamboree.

MMAParent - YouTube

Youtube yanked the music so it is silent, so play some of your favorites offroading tunes while watching.

You should be able to disconnect it on the Sahara. The Rubicon's have the electric disconnect, but the other JK's should be able to have that manually done with a wrench or other tool. I haven't personally done it on a JK, but I know they make quick disconnects like the ones I use on my TJ...

I wanted music, but youtube always yanks it out. Any way to put it in there w/o them yanking? Do I need to put a copyright notice in the description or something?

if you click my link to my Youtube videos, I posted a few from our runs in the mud, including the one where I slid down the hill. Thankfully, the audio doesn't play what I was saying. LOL

Heya, Liston! Great to see ya join up here! I have a LOT more photos, but the ones I posted previously are the better ones. I added some video on the Youtube a week or so ago from when Eddie Gomez came back up to Stony Lonesome and we ran it is kinda wet/soggy/slick conditions. We ran a few of the same things, but in different directions, and it REALLY changes the park when it's wet!

Great videos Paul. I am from Jacksonville and hope to make it to the Jamboree this year.

A question.. were you in 4h or 4l on those ascents?
I have done some playing in my teen years, but never really "wheeled" with finesse. I know there's some trade secrets to be learned

How many hours of jeeping do you get on a tank of gas in 4L? Just ballpark. Thinking of doing a JJ and curious how they work fueling. Are you expected to bring a bunch with you?

depends on how hard the trails are but like 8 to 10 or more hours for me in a tj with 35s it depends on your set up too
