Lake Pleasant to Prescott Arizona

Lake Pleasant to Prescott Arizona 2010

Over 60 miles of trail riding that starts from the staging area north of lake Pleasant. There are several ways to go to reach the camping area. Going on the cow creek road straight into Crown King then on to Senator Highway has some of the more technical riding before reaching Crown King. This trip we opted to keep the technical areas to a lesser degree and go the Castle Hot Springs road route and crossing over here and there on Champie rd and French Creek rd. Basically not making that right turn at the CK painted rock turn off that has the more rough spots. What a trip to remember. Everyone made it up with no major mechnical issues or body damage. Even the Ford F-150 went all the way with running boards intact! Camping was great as the temps in Prescott were at least 20 degrees cooler than the lower desert. Saw wild life along the trail. Which included a snake, fox, bobcat, lots of quail, and a deer. We stopped at a few landmarks along the way. The old mine operation at Minnehaha was a good place for a break. Various buildings were also seen. One still standing was Palace Station. Palace Station was a stagecoach station that dates back to 1875. Its maintained by the forest service and can only be viewed from the fence. I have some pics on the link below.

My son goes to ASU in Tempe. Whenever I fly in I look at all that desert and mountains to explore. Took a rental car and drove the loop to montazumas castle, Sonoma, Jerome, Prescott. Beautiful country there. Did it in may and man it got pretty cold up in Jerome. I envy you to be able to explore in your jeep. Great pictures! That pine forest is awesome.

It was a great ride where everyone had a good time, good food and no major problems.

Looks like an awesome trail for sure. I'm moving to Arizona in October, and I'd love to get into this more. Where can I find more information about these type of trails?

There is several books out for AZ trails. One of them is called 4Backcountry adventrures Arizona its a big trail book that has all regions of AZ in it. Cost $40.00 Or you can just buy individual regions to go trail riding on.
