Oh, lovin' it! Makes me really miss that place ... I moved back to the east coast 6 years ago ...

But, back in my Land Rover days, we hit that place a lot. Below is the Carnage Canyon portion which, I believe, has now been closed.

I'd love to take a run up there with the JK. - Maybe again someday ...

yep.. They closed it permently. Sucks.. Stupid people spoil it.. It's a pretty fun place still. just missing the real tough section. they also have closed portions of 288 due to the mine at the bottom. but the rest is still open.

I had heard rumors of them opening carnage back up after they re-route and fence it all in like they did the rest of the trail. Is that true? Never got the chance to run it when it was still open.

I haven't heard that.. It is my understanding that it's closed for good. But maybe we can get it opened if there are enough clubs to sponser it.

that looks like something that suits me perfectly. are those pretty basic off road terrains for a beginner?

Not the most difficult of terrains but you definitely need to watch where you put your tires in a couple of spots due to clearance issues. I made it in my 2011 jk sport completely stock twice now.
