Lesson learned!!!!

Well found some trails out along some power-lines. They were for the most part "maintained" truck accessible but then turns into an off-road course for trucks dirt bikes atvs an such there was a jeep a bit ahead of me trailed by two quads. The trail comes out on the industrial road it starts and you can then loop around jeep and the quads had a trailer here and stopped. Last I saw of them so I assume they packed up. This was my first off run so I was still a lil hungry so I wanted to go another round. I took the loop back through the trails to where I started no issue. Only had a quarter of a tank so I ran filled up and came back for one last run. I was so eager and excited being my first off-road experience. I was in two wheel drive for the most part. Now the trail splits and one goes across a runoff type stream that is sand and rock and then goes up a dirt trail with some rocks. Then the one the other goes down/ across it diagonally the stream turning into some mud and then turns to dirt . The other Jeep and the quads went that way when I chose the straight route. Having some balls about me at this point I decided to go for the left one this time... Well I thought I lined myself up properly but slid in what turned out to be 18 inches of mud ended up on the frame. Needless to say needed a buddy's jeep after calling people for two hours walking a half mile to collect some pallets a tire knock on my buddy's door who conveniently lives behind the power lines. Grabbed a shovel a beer. And went to try and work something out. Pallets and tire failed was able to dig trench to divert water. Buddy arrives gets me out. Lesson learned and its really true the only way to learn what to do is just take her out! Tires must!!! Haha! Also learned my 4 wheel drive doesn't work so something in my transfer-case is wrong. But learned a lot got her dirty had fun doing it. Wasn't fun till I knew she was unstuck. Very stressful the first time! Anyway that's my first trail story. Any tips for next time? Obviously the four wheel drive is a concern.
