Trail Report: Nightmare and Last Chance

Hey guys,

As some of you know I hit up Nightmare Gulch and Last Chance Canyon today. Let me tell you, the scenery was nice and the trails were challenging. Some pretty technical sections, but a good ride. Unfortunately my camera was broken, so I have to wait for my buddy to send me the pics he took. Hes got a nice camera, and enjoys photoshop. Here is a teaser picture that he turned into an HDR image, which is basically a High Def picture...More to come. Sorry I only have one at the moment.

Ya it was a really good trail. I was impressed. It is actually about 20-30 minutes outside of my town. If you are familiar with the area, it is near jawbone canyon and red rock canyon.

That actually is a door. They hit the local junkyard, and picked up some cherokee doors. They hacked them up with a sawzall and boxed them with sheet metal. Its a much cleaner look than just going doorless on cherokees

Looks nice. If you look closely you can see the button to "open" the door...if that is even functional any longer.

I'd be curious to know how they cut and braced the doors. I've got a couple doors I can cut and experiment with.

The button does still work surprisingly, although we dont usually use it lol. As far as bracing goes, there is none. The doors were just cut with a combonation of a sawzall, cutting wheel, and jigsaw. Then they welded sheet metal to them to "box" it and give it a finished look. They are actually very solid for not having any sort of support or bracing.

Not yet. The kid taking the pictures, left for school the day after the trip. I hope he has more. If not, it will be a good excuse to go wheeling out there again It was a pretty good trail though, maybe a little more challenging than gold mountain, and much longer so there were more obstacles to overcome. If you or anyone heads up this way its def worth it.
