WF SoCal in Cleveland National Forest *PIC HEAVY

Once again, we gathered up a group and hit the trails. We were sorely missing a few members, but glad to have a few new.

Brian, ya missed out, my friend. I ended up turning around on one hill and actually going around.

The day started out pretty dang cold as we rode up to Corona with the doors and windows off. Even rained a bit. But it did warm up to another perfect day and though there were no rocks there was plenty of fun to be had.

The mandatory poser shot up at the top on a helo pad.

Of course, that pad was not the easiest to get to. Here's a shot of emills climbing up over the lip of it that I so delicately scraped from stem to stern.

RedRubi trying his new suspension out, and I have to say, his rig is a beast.

One of the hills I thought twice about. I can't stand when you can't see the other side (which is always) and I'm fairly sure I will go ass over teakettle one of these days.

Me looking like I just took a nose dive.

But I recovered

All in all, it was a great day, and even though I turned down a hill or two, I learned a lot about shifting my beastie into 4low, which no doubt Brian and the rest of the guys will be thankful for.

Lookin' good Chris. I'm glad you's had a good time, one of these days I'll make it out with you. I met a WF member today myself, but he was reluctant to tell me his screen name for whatever reason. I had a good day too with the Bakersfield trailblazers and infectious offroad.

I'd have had more, but my camera was being a pain. I'm not sure but it kept saying out of memory. The scenery was amazing but I missed pictures of about half the trail.

We went out to test the new suspension and tires. I got very few pics, and none in any of the "really good spots". The trail was basically a fire road with some interesting bypasses. Nothing actually difficult just heavy on the pucker factor as many of the slopes are pretty steep at places. It's also very local and a good place to iron out the bugs. Nice day and great to meet another WF'er.

Here are a few of the pics:

Yes, those are the AEV Highlines. I'm very happy with them, I am on a 4" Currie and 1" BL and can completely stuff 37's - not even close to rubbing without trimming front or rear. I am still waiting on the flares though - hopefully within the next week or so and then I'll see if I have to do any trimming for certain.

Next trip, those who ride with me must help me clean up. You should have seen the dirt that blew out of the vents Sunday when I turned them on.

And Spaz, you do need Saturdays off. Are you going to be able to come to BigBear??

Hey local jeepers,
I want to do a run from Santiago Canyon to Ortega Hwy next Saturday. 1/30/10
Has anyone done this ?
I've been looking at maps but can't quite figure out the trails to get to Ortega.
I've already done Santiago the 15 fwy.
I thought it would be an Saturday morning run and it's local.

Or maybe Santiago Canyon to Beeks place. I heard it's pretty cool place to see.
This one would be fine also.

Joe did this run a while back with just the wife and daughter. You maybe looking at a 4 hour treck maybe more. Pretty much go the way you did to the 15 but stay straight don't take the left to the 15. Head up to the towers. Once you get up to the towers go through the yellow gate. First check out the view though. (I'm talking about the second set of towers) When you hit pavement make the left and it will bring you out just east of Hell's Kitchen on Ortega Hwy. Would meet you up there but will not have the jeep up by then. Have fun. Oh ya by the way I still see snow up at the towers from the Elsinore side.

Ended up just going to Holy Jim area. It's only about 1/2 hour from the house and I had a couple of hours to kill. There were a couple of other TJs out there. Had fun in the rocks and the river.

Here's a couple of pics.
