It was a "balmy" 30* so IMO it was very nice for December, Jan. and Feb. get bitter cold. Not uncommon to spend a week below 0* in those months.
All four of my springs are not captured on top, only at the bottom. I do not have the rear bump stops or cups, so the springs slipped off the perch and the suspension needed to be flexed to get the springs back on the perches.

Nice pics from the Cliffs park, I used to live in Fox Lake area and head there. Looks like you need some limiting straps for the rear to help keep the springs somewhat located.
