Acceleration Problem

I just switched out one a inline 256 4.2 for the same used motor. I have a brand new weber carb. Its a 77 cj 7 quadratrac as my name implies. When I hit the gas at all it almost seems to flood for a minute and not accelerate at all. It will move, shift and drive, but no chance of spinning wheels even on ice.
Anybody have any thoughts or ideas? This is my first jeep and I am just learning so any help would be good.
Thanks.
