In stock form, should have dana 30 up front and model 20 in the rear.

If I am not mistaken, the correct answer is dana 30 widetrack and amc 20 widetrack , they are a more desireable axle as they have a wider stance than the cj's prior to 82 and the axle shaft sizes would be different when ordering parts.

nothing wrong with the amc 20. swap in stronger guts and 1 piece axles. I have abused the heck out of them in the past,no problems (33" tires).

Yep amc 20's can be as strong or stronger than a d44 the ring gear is bigger you just need a few upgrades and it can be a great axle the 30 always has been the debate but if you wheel it right it can be a good axle if your tires and horsepower don't outgrow it
