carb problems

well finally got to do some work on the 64, changed the plugs wires etc. I noticed the plugs were all fouled with soot, as if she was running way too rich.

I tried to adjust the carb which had the fuel mix screw turned out 8 turns. tried to adjust it starting at 1.5 turns, there was no change at all. I had just cleaned the carb, so i can't understand why no change. Anyone got any suggestions? Would love to put a 2 barrel on her.

normally, just listening, you won't be able to tell much if any difference..best bet is adjust the idle mixture screws with a vacuum gauge..once the throttle plates open, this overrides the idle mixture
