Correct alternator output

My alternator is cranking out 13.95 and my battery is showing 12.3. I have heard that is too much output for the Alternator and too low for the battery. FYI, the voltage regulator is new.

Thanks!

Volts? The alternator should be putting out ~13-14volts. And a "good" battery should ready ~12.45volts without a load on it. But its not just the volts the alternator puts out that needs to be in check, its the Amps as well. I'm not sure how many amps a stock CJ alternator should be putting out though.

Well, I've replaced everything under the hood except the motor and the coil. New wiring harness. New voltage regulator. New alternator. New starter. New starter solenoid. I was told the readings were too low but I wasn't convinced so I thought to consullt the collective wisdom on the forum.

What abotu the AMPs? It's a motorolla charging system (an AC Delco alternator). the engine is a 232 if that means anything.

no the battery should not be 14, it should however be 14 when the alternator is running, but when the car is off it shoudl be a tad over 12
