Driveshaft Question

74 CJ-5 304 .Question is which way do the driveshafts go in? Is there designated up or down on the yoke end??? I have the front in with the short yoke end at the axle,Ive seen installs with the rear shaft just the opposite. Thanks

originally the slip yoke was near the axle on the front and on the rear the slip yoke was near the transfer case..many times people swap the front one around so that both the slip yokes are as high as possible with the idea of trying to keep mud out of them as much as possible..either way will work
