Factory style YJ soft top

Quick question will a factory style soft top for an 89YJ fit a CJ?

I try not to deal with soft tops but I know that hardtops, hard doors and bikinis will work so I would think that a soft top would too...check a catalog and see if tops listed fit the years you are talking about

I would think it would be darn close to fitting.. but you need the rail system as well, not just the top by it self.

It will fit as long as you have ALL the hardware to go with it. Here is a photo of my '86 with a YJ top:

Thanks guys. I have a soft top on CL complete and someone was asking if it would fit. I wasnt sure so I figured I'd ask here. I know some people would have just told him sure it will fit but I'm not about to screw someone over. Thanks again.

I had been thinking about this also. my CJ has 2 sets of holes for the snaps I'd like to weld shut and use a rail system. I think I'll check out the local scrap yard today and see if they have a YJ to take it off. My guess is that it will be spot welded on.

My '79 CJ7 has a Bestop YJ top on it. Just be sure to use the YJ windshield top header.

Just a couple of questions about the rails that the YJ uses instead of the snaps. How are they held on the YJ tub? Can I but them new? Thanks, John

They bold on using the same bolts that hold the hard top on. You can usually find them on ebay.
