Frame swaps

Can a mid 70s cj5 frame be used to replace a 68 cj5 frame? If so what difficulties will i have?

Looking at a vendor's website, it looks like '41-'74 should work. They appear to have changed in '75. I think the rear was widened in '75 to reduce the rollover tendency.

Hey guys, there was a few inches added to the cj5 in the 60's. Not sure when, but I think it was when AMC bought and wanted to add the 304 v8. The front fenders are the give away As the older ones are shorter... Anyway, do your research. Might have to use AMC only frame, and not the older one

Ok, so looks like, pre 72, 72-75 and then 75 and up are the 3 different frames made for the cj5. I just did Google research, but owned a 72 and it was the first year with the V8

Like said above pre 72 are same and 72-75 are same. There was 3" added in 72 for 304v8 and 258 I6. Also Note that with these changes in length the tub is the same, the fender and hood is longer on the 72-75 to accommodate the additional 3".
