Help with wiring please

I'm working on a 85 cj7 the man bought a jeep that was a wiring nightmare dash removed and all sorts of crap. He had the I6 rebuilt and installed it. Now he wants me to make it run.

Problem is I am unable to locate the wires that go to the ign coil. Any help would be appreciated.

I just finished my 77 cj5 last week. I had the same problem and just started with a multimeter at the steering column and found the hot that would activate upon the start position and ran all new wires. Several places online have wiring diagrams for your year or close approx year that you can reference. I literally stared on one wire at a time and moved each one to a custom fuse/ relay box near the battery. Good luck!

Be careful many factory harness had a resistive wire feeding the coil.
If you are not using factory harness an after market ballast resistor must be added on that wire .

What I'd like to know is how can a vehicle that has so few things electrical on it have so many damn wires?!

That's why when I do mine, I'm just going to make my own wiring harness.

I've thrown my hands up with it I'm done it was missing the icm installed a new one customer also wanted a new dizzy and coil done and done. All wires traced with my multimeter and still no fire thanks for the help. If it was mine I would have started with a V8 SBC swap and been in the red clay already.
