Question Is My Block Cracked?

bought a 1974 cj5 two days ago runs fine start up faster than my parents JK runs perfect has a shimmy in the steering and no ROT at all need alittle work but i was out driving it just to get used to the good 'ole three speed, and noticed this after looking at the block, its on the drivers side, i think this is a 4.2L we thought it was a blown head gasket was the milky residue in the oil but i think the engine may be cracked, and they used somekind of rubber epoxy to cover up the crack?

paid $2900 for it

SOooooooo what would be the best route to take for this? i get antifreeze in my oil so is this repairable in a way? or should i consider engine swap?

If it was just leaking anitifreeze. I would just have sealed it up better, but getting antifreeze into the oil is bad. The engine has to be taken apart to see if it can be repaired. Otherwise you need a new block.

I am unsure of any safe block sealers, but I have seen some youtube videos of people sealing dirtbike heads with some. You can't really hurt the engine anymore by trying on of those

There is a block sealer the military uses in Afghanistan, buddy told me every hummer over there has a cracked block or head. He tells me it works miracles. Ill find out what its called and post it here. I would give it a shot, not much to loose. Might keep it going for a good while till you decide what to do with it.

thanks for the replies guys i really appreciate it, which leads me to another question, she also overheats, i know the block is getting coolant hence the antifreeze leaking, fan works, but she still gets really hot i dont have a fan shroud nor a coolant reservior, and my heater blower is diconnected but coolant still passes through the core. what are some methods i could try to make the cooling system more effective?
