Minor but annoying

The rubber shifter boot on my CJ7 continues to crack and break. I've replaced it three times but it just ends up cracked again within what seems like just a couple of months I assume from the heat off the tranny. Any ideas how to keep that from happening? Thanks

I don't know.I never encountered that problem with any of mine..Would it be possible to flip one of your old boots over and put it under the new one to keep the heat off the new one ??...perhaps the new boots are not as heavy duty as the original ones..on my green cj7 the shifters are custom so my wife made shifter boots for it.she used upholstery leather.you could do something like that and it probably wouldn't crack if you oiled it now and then..

Thanks for the suggestion. I like it and will try it out when I get the new boot.
