need some help

My 75 cj-5 has a bit of issues
i bought it for 1,500 and the Po had made it a push button start..some where in that conversion the wires found a way to ground out and not start.. how would i go about making it key start only?
Any and all help would be great
im going through the Haynes repair manual and im still at a loss

You can get a Briggs and Stratton Keyed ignition switch and use that. That's what some of the older Jeeps used. Just run the one wire to the starter selonoid and the other to your ballast resistor if you have one or to the + side of the coil. Other wires that you want to run only when the key is on hook up to the same pole as the one going you your coil. A + wire from your battery goes to the other pole.

ok cool and do you know where i can check my vin on it?? every sight ive gone to has said "Not Found"
