Red face Shocks keep sliding off rubber grommet

I have a 1998 CJ with no lift. The new rear shocks (second set) keep sliding off the rubber grommet at the head of the shock.

Anyone ever experience this and how did you fix it?

Are they installed with the steel washer and the nut tightened properly

They DO NOT have steel washers. I am guessing they should be placed on both side of the round rubber grommet.

The shock should have come with the special conical shaped washers that when tightened down expand the grommet and prevent the shock from moving. I am assuming you have a YJ not a CJ. Oh and welcome to the forum

This shock is the end that comes to a "T" and attaches with two bolts. The rubber grommet has a center piece that would represent the top of the T. Do they come with washers for that end? I have a 1998 TJ.

I returned to the outfit that installed the shocks. Now on set #3. Upgraded set. We'll see...
