t-case part - vent or plug?

I was filling out t-case on a CJ7 with fresh oil today and slightly overdone it. To my complete surprise the oil was coming from two separate directions: first, the usual - fill-out hole and another one on the top of the t-case, which I first thought was a vent. I started looking for the part to replace but so far I cant seem to put my finger on it. The hole is located right above the rear drive shaft yoke facing straight up. I found a few schematics on google but I neither would give me a clear answer. So, here it is. What the hell is that - a plug or a vent?

P.S. I wanted to make a pic but it's so up high so it wouldn't be visible.

Is it a dana 20 or dana 300 case?

I have a dana 20 in the back building and will have a dana 300 in the floor by the end of the week so I can check both.

Not sure. Will check out today. In any case I bought a breather 90 degree fitting to route a hose to the firewall just in case it is a breather

If its a three hundrend its a vent, You had to have had the bottle of gear oil pressed up hard against the case so it could not run out as it filled up and you squezzed an extra pint into it until it filled slap up to the top of the case where the vent was located.

It was the "hard presses against the case bottle" case
