05 Rubicon-Tire Question

I recently purchased an 05 Rubicon 6 speed manual. It has a 1" body lift, skid row plate and 31" Mud Tires; the rest looks fairly stock or isn't worth mentioning for my question.

I will need to pick up some new tires soon and would like to stay with the stock wheels and am wondering what size tire I can safely put on the jeep without any further lifting or mods, fender cutting aside.

Perhaps the answer might depend on what I plan to do with this Jeep. Well, it is my only mode of transportation, however I also enjoy trails and mud. This last weekend I took it up to Big Bear, California and hit almost every black diamond trail there, including John Bull. Whacked the skid plates a few times and the hitch on the rear bumper, but the jeep took on the trails just as well if not better than some of the "bigger" ones.

I would like to go as large as I can with the tires without having to change much else. As I mentioned earlier I do plan on either cutting the fenders or adding flat ones. From what I have read it seems 32" might be the most I can do. Any further input and advice would be great.

Also, any input on specific tires would be great...favorites anyone has for mainly road, but still more than capable for mud and rock crawling.

Thank you

I highly doubt you only have a body lift with 285/76/16's as they are a 33x11.5 tire and would rub like crazy. Both of my friends and myself run that size tire on our Rubicons with a 2.5" EMU lift and 1" body lift and still slightly rub on occasion.
