15 inch rim vs. 17 inch rim for 33inch tires

I bought a 2013 MOAB last winter and love the tires and wheels that came stock, but have decided to upgrade when i need new tires. I just put on a rough country 2.5 spacer lift so that i can easily throw on some 33x12.5 tires.. which of course i cant put on the current wheels, which are 17 inch rubicon wheels that aren't wide enough to take that tire. My question is this: Is there any difference in ride quality between a 33inch tire on a different 17 inch wheel vs. a 15 inch wheel ? I understand that the 15 inch wheel will take a beefier tire, and the 17 will have a lower profile tire, (even though the tire is the same size) but as far as ride goes.. any difference ? Help would be appreciated.

I use 35/12.50R17 on stock Rubicon rims. My old CJ7 had 33/12.50R15 on stock rims.

I put 15 in rims with 33's on our new JKUR. The ride seems as good as the 17's provided.
