As far as your application goes, with a 3" lift you can easily clear 35" tires with the correct wheel dimensions. There is a lot of debate on spacers but in our opinion running the correct wheel specs is best.

If you want to stick with 17" wheels I suggest going with a 9" wide wheels that has around 4.5" of backspace or less. Size 17x9 ET-12 is going to yield the most options. Here's the link with some of the models we offer in these specs that will work for you.

As far as tires go, size 35x12.50-17 is going to offer the most amount of tire choices. Here's what we have to offer.

I hope this information helps. If we can be of further assistance please let us know.
Thanks Matt, this was VERY helpful. I just compared the estimated cost that my 4x4 guy was going to charge for all the wheels stuff (spacers, labor, tires, install) and he actually came up as more expensive than if I do a wheels/tires package from DTD. I talked with your guy today and I can get 17" black Liquid Metal Rhino wheels with 35" Goodyear Wrangler MT/R Kevlars, with the miscellaneous costs like valve stems, etc., for about the same price as he was going to charge me for his stuff. That's not counting the $80 Goodyear rebate, the $50 WF discount and a $100 Tread Lightly rebate. This actually seems like a more viable and cost effective solution, not to mention that I avoid the issue of spacers. Thanks again. I'll be back in touch with your team as soon as my wife gets over the sticker shock for the skids/lift kit that I'm doing now. Gotta space these projects out. LOL!

Travis,

I ordered a 2012 JK Rubicon so it is time to start shopping. Can you get me a price on 4 tires / wheels shipped to 98617?

GY MT/R Kevlar 305/70R16 with MB72 Flat Black 16x8.5 4.5" BS Wheel

GY MT/R Kevlar 285/70R17 with MB72 Flat Black 17x8.5 4.5" BS Wheel

I know your website shows 16" MT/R on Back Order but Jeep won't be here until late August or Early September.

Thanx,
DamMan

We're guys just like you. We work hard for our money and like to make our purchases as smart as we can too. I'm glad we can help. Give us a ring when you're ready, we're not going anywhere and we'd be happy to help you. (I hear you on the spacing purchases out.... put them too close together and she'll be asking for some new jewelry. )

OK, found rebate form for Tread Lightly. Noticed that form needs Salesman's Signature. How does this work with tires bought online?

Travis,

If I go with the 305/70R16 GY MT/R tires that show back ordered on your website, do I need to get my order in early to hopefully have the tires / wheels by the time my 2012 JK arrives? Do you even think the MT/R 16's will be back in stock by the end of August?

Totally off the subject of Jeep wheels, but Black Rock indicates Black Rock Type 8 Series 997 steel wheels can be ordered with a custom backspacing for my Dodge truck. Black Rock's website indicates Discount Tire and America's Tire can special order the wheels. Can you get the Black Rock Soft 8 Steelies with a custom back space?

Thanx,
DamMan

With no projected ETA from Goodyear on that size I can't gurantee they will be available in August. Chances are they will be but again we can't gurantee that. You can always put a set on order with us and when the time comes if they aren't available, we could always put you into another tire model that suites your needs.

AS for the 997 steel wheels, they can be put together in custom offsets/backspace. Lead time is typically 3-4 weeks and pricing can vary depending on the backspace you need.

I am likely going to start with ordering 305/70R16 and see how it goes unless you have reason I should consider 285/70R17 first? My consideration for 16" is wider tire for same diameter. Only thing is I do want TPMS (not included in original quote). When will you know proper TPMS sensor for 2012 JK? Do I call the number you have listed in your signature and say Travis sent me!

Either size will work great for you. We do stock TPMS sensors for your Jeep. When you call just mention this website. Anyone here will be happy to help you. We aren't paid on commission but we do try to track what websites are liking our sponsor efforts.

Ordered the 285/70R17 tire / wheel package. I have never had such a great experience placing a phone order before. Now I will have 5 tires to look at for 2 months until my 2012 Wrangler arrives. Oh well, I can have the tires and wheels paid for before the Wrangler payments start! Maybe I will even have the rebates in hand by September....

My sheer lack of wheel knowledge would kill an ordinary man. I think I'll be bothering you some time soon. I just don't like these stock 08s. I do have a post about what I am trying to do in the wheels forum. Stupid hurts, trust me, I'm a lifetime member when it comes to anything automotive.

4 out of 5 arrived today. the pics you see online don't do the rocky mountains justice. I love the way they look. My only issue is that my mechanic said he never used so many weights to balance a wheel before.

sorry the pic sucks...its raining its balls off here

Looks great gpzjack! The RockyMountain is a a pretty beefy tire both visually and in it's construction.

If your tire man hasn't already, have him flip the tire 180 degrees on the wheel and then balance.
