Ok, here is a late update on what I did. I ordered 1 wheel just so I could test fit it and make sure it cleared and would give the right stance since it is a lot easier to return a single wheel. Discount Tire said it would fit and I 99% trusted that, but wanted to make sure for myself. All was a go and there is about 3/8' clearance to the calipers and dust shields, which is perfectly acceptable to me. THen I put in the order for 4 more tires and wheels mounted. Here are some pics for reference, I didnt take any to show how far they stick out, but it would be about 2" with 33x12.5x15 tires:

Looks good. Always liked those tires. And, for future reference, those are MB Razors.

I was very close to ordering the red letter grabbers for the wife's jeep, but it is a street machine and if I get close to the promised 50k on the wild peaks I will be happy and I doubt the grabbers would get anywhere near that.

OK Discount Tire, What's Up?

I get a lot of compliments on my Black MB72 wheels and recommend them often. Now I can not find them on your website. If I click the link on your first post in this thread, I get a error prompt saying no longer available.

I picked these wheels over the Pro Comps because they looked good, and are a simple design that I thought would be around awhile in case I ever needed to replace one.

Was I wrong? Did I make a big mistake. I have been a good customer. I have bought tires for my motorhome, pickup, SUV, car trailer, and Jeep from you guys.

Please tell us that you will be bringing these wheels back soon.

I'm not sure why the link is broken. These are still available and plan to be for a while.

We do not have any stores in your area so if you purchase this set-up from us via mail order, you'll need to have your TPMS Sensors swapped out locally (local shop rates will apply). We also sell new TPMS Sensors ($37.00 each) and can install them for you before we ship the packages out if you choose to go this rouote. You could also run regular valve stems but your TPMS Warning light will pop up.

We mount, balance, and ship all wheel and tire packages for FREE. Give us a call at 1.888.459.4080 and anyone of our sales agents would be happy to run over all your options

Hey DTD guys, I have an off-the wall question for you.
I'm not in need of new tires right now, but I figure I will need some by this time next year. I plan on buying Duratracs and I want to get new 16" wheels too. To spread the costs out I plan on buying a set of 5 wheels in the next month or 2 and buying the tires after the first of the year.
My question is this: If I buy the wheels 6 months before I mount the tires on them, will the warranty still be good?
I just want to make sure I'm covered in case there is a problem with a wheel after I start using them so long after the purchase date.
Thanks

As long as you keep the wheels stored safely and in the box there will be no issues with warranty.

Cool, that's what I figured, it's not like they have an expiration date. I just wanted to verify with the experts.

15x10 Alloy Black rims

Originally Posted by Discount Tire View Post

Those that are thinking about purchasing 15" steel wheels may want to consider purchasing 15" MB72's instead. Here's why:

First, WEIGHT. Steel wheels are extremely heavy. The average 15x8 soft 8 styled wheel weighs approx. 27 lbs. On the aluminum side the MB72 in 15x8 weighs only 20lbs. This is a 35% weight difference. 7lbs per wheel may not sound like much to some of you but those that know about unsprung weight will tell you that every ounce you can save at your wheels is worth saving. The less weight you have in your wheels and tires the more $$$ you will save at the pump and the more power you will have at your feet when you want it.

Second FITMENT: Many of you have already found that 15" steel wheels are very hit and miss with brake clearance. Steel wheels are manufactured in two pieces, the center is stamped into shape and then welded to the barrel. This stamping process leaves flanges at the back of the spokes (or holes in the soft 8's case) and these flanges often make contact with the Jk's brake calipers. The easiest fix for this is to run spacers (not recommended by the wheel manufacturer). Running spacers adds $$$ to your wheel and tire package and again, weight. (The common Spidertrax bolt on spacers run $99.00 for the set of 4) Some may try to grind down the wheel or caliper this is not recommended either. Grinding down the wheel can jeopardize the strength of the wheel and grinding down your brake caliper can be enough for some dealers to void your vehicles warranty. As for the MB72... It fits like a glove with no need for spacers. The MB72 in a 15x8 with a -19mm offset (3.75BS) can run a 35x12.50-15 without any rubbing. (min leveling kit needed) Here's a link to a test fit we did. This jeep has a 4" long travel suspension.

15" MB72 -19mm offset fits JK

Now on to STRENGTH: This is the controversial one and I personally don't know which one is stronger. I have heard arguments for both but I haven't seen any data to support either. Some say steel wheels are stronger and if bent can be straightened. Some say aluminum alloy wheels are stronger and have higher resistance for impacts. Neither of these manufacturer's have data for side impact testing. Both wheels are tested on a pass fail basis and both wheels, for DOT purposes, pass. According to each wheel manufacturer both wheels have a load carrying capacity of 2200 lbs. I'm thinking, I might be able to have some testing done for this subject. I will keep you posted.

FINISH: Steel rusts, Aluminum alloy doesn't. Enough said here I think. Either one can be touched up easily if scratched or scuffed.

This all leads us down to COST. Most people would think that with all the benefits for running alloy wheels there would be a pretty good cost difference as well. With this wheel, this is not the case. The MB72 has been brought in to help you get more for your money and it is doing just that. Here are package details based off current pricing with Jk-Forum member Discount. (Prices do not include tax or installation)

Cragar Soft 8 with 35" KM2's -(one of our favorite tires :ya: )
15x8 Cragar Soft 8 13mm offset Black: $80.00 each with FREE shipping (includes center cap)
35x12.50R15 BFG KM2: $209.00 each
Mount and balance: FREE
NON TPMS valves: $3.00 each
Installation kit: (lugs): $45.00
Jk-forum member Discount with purchase of 5 tires: -$50.00 off total
Sub Total package for 5 each: $1455.00

Add cost of bolt on Spidertrax spacers: $99.00
Grand total: $1554.00
.
.
.
.
Now for the MB72 with 35" KM2's.
15x8 MB72 19mm offset Matte Black: $99.00 each with FREE shipping
35x12.50R15 BFG KM2: $209.00 each
Mount and balance: FREE
NON TPMS valves: $3.00 each
Installation kit: (lugs + hub rings): $45.00
Jk-forum member Discount with purchase of 5 tires: -$50.00 off total
Final cost for package of 5 is: $1550
Those that want to can probably figure out the fuel savings in an average year to add to this cost difference. I'll leave that up to the mathematicians.

In the past we have only had the machined finish available in the MB72 but due to many of you asking for a Matte Black finish it is now available. Please let us know if we can help you with your next set.

Link: Mb72 15x8 -19mm offset in Matte Black

Picture of 15" MB72 in Machined finish with 35" Goodyear MTR origionals Jeep has a 4" long travel suspension.

Therefore, a 15x10 black MB 75 Alloy rim with a bs of 3.75 should fit onto my 2013 Jeep JK Wrangler Sport with 37x14x15LT Interco Super Swamper Irok Bias tire without any spacers?

Any info will help greatly!

Thank you

Thank you
Crunching the numbers.... a 15x10 with a 3.75" backspace should fit with that wide of a tire without any spacers but numbers on paper can only tell us so much. I'd recommend a test fit.

Also, there isn't a 15x10 MB 72 but there is a Black Rock D-Window Alloy in 15x10 with a -38mm offset (4" Backspace). This wheel would also need to be test fit.

MB72's with 35x12.50

So the MB72's 15x8 will fit a 2012 JKU?

Someone told me that running a 15's on a 2012 JKU will have brake cooling issues? I've heard of the rubbing issues with the calipers with some 15" wheels.

I've been told that I should run 17's, its like a $100-$150 more per tire! Please shine some light on this for me.

Yes. The 15x8 MB72 will fit without hitting the brake calipers. As far as cooling is concerned, we haven't seen this be an issue even here in the Arizona desert heat.

Question for Discount Tire:

Hey I have a few quick questions... I have a bone stock 2011 jk unlimited and I'm due for new tires soon. I'm looking to upgrade the wheels as well...

The MB72's seem to be a popular choice and I'm a fan of the black ones myself.

So with that said, I'd like to go with 15x8 mb72's mounted with 33x12.5x15 Goodyear wrangler durratracs.

I'm no expert so here's where I need some help. Will that combo work with my year wrangler? How much do you think that total package would come to? What's the deal with the tpms sensors? I live in southern PA, would I need to come pick them up in ohio or can you guys ship them?

Every little bit of help counts and I hear great things about you guys at discount tire so this is the first place I thought of going when I started noticing the need for new tires.

-Thanks!

We've got a sale coming up this weekend so I recommend giving us a call. Anyone here can help you but if you want to speak with a fellow JK owner call TC at 1.888.459.4080 ext 51826. TC has a 2010 JKU and knows the fitment well. He will explain your TPMS options, give you an accurate quote with applicable discounts and can give you an ETA as well. Mention this website when you call and he'll give you an extra $50.00 off your total when you purchase a package of 5.

We ship to PA free. TC can make sure you have everything you need so they are bolt on ready when they arrive at your door.

For a quick quote from home, add these two items to your cart. **Note** Forum member discount won't show up in cart, you have to call in to get that and the sale that. Labor day sale should be live on our website tomorrow.

Lastly, you might want to consider a leveling kit for your jeep. 33" tires can fit with stock suspension but usually rub a little without some modifications to your front bumper/fender liners OR a leveling kit. If you are interested in purchasing one of those too ask TC about our Teraflex products. We sell the full line of Teraflex Suspension parts.

Last, lastly, Welcome to the forum! You're going to have a lot of fun here.... It's rather addicting though.
