16 inch wheels and Tires Question

Have a 1997 Stock Jeep Wrangler sahara, Just ordered 4" Rough Country lift, wondering IF there would be a clearance problem running 33X10.50 on a 16 Inch wheel/tire combo with just a 4" lift? If not, Any opinions on best Mall crawler tire?

you will be fine. 4 inches of lift is perfect for 33s.

If you're seriously just going to use it for mall crawling, I'd go with the cheapest tires around. If you plan on using it primarily for the streets with some offroading, I'd go with BFG ATs. I got my 33" BFGs for 170ea.

Okay, Thanks for the input guys, yeah Just gonna mall crawl this one. So I know that everybody usually runs 15" wheels and tires, is there any disadvantages of Running 16" wheels? The reason I ask the question, is I found a really sweet set of wheels but they don't make them in 15". Thanks again guys

Make sure you can find tires you want in a size to fit your wheels first, and make sure the wheels have no more than 5.5" backspacing for 10.5" tires. IF you go with wider tires you'll need less backspace. Otherwise you'll rub the rear spring perches.

there is no real difference between running 15 vs 16. they are both popular enough sizes that you shouldnt have any problem finding the tires you want for them. but just so you know, chances are, anything you find for a 16 inch wheel is gona be in metric, not inches. nothing wrong with that, just make sure that you either know how to do the conversions, or know a web site that can do them, that way you know you are getting the tire size you want

The disadvantage is that with 15" rims you buy tires that say "33 inches" on em, and with 16's you get 319*47.2/24+3XYQ97-p38[orange]R16 and you have do do some crazy math to figure out how many inches orange translates into in english ... most folks will pass on the algebra lesson and buy the 15's

I`m running 265/75/16 on soft 8 wheels with 4" bs. no rubbing at full turn with no lift. they convert to 32 X 10.50

you would probably want to go with either a 265/75/16 or 285/75/16 both are very common sizes.

You'll have plenty of lift for those.
285/75/16 = 33x11.50x16

As for mall crawler tire... LOL definately recommend the Nitto Mud Grappler... it's what all the soccer mom's and H2 & H3 owners are raving about...
