31's or 32's or 33's?

Hey guys, i have 15x8" wheels and 31x10.5 hankook all terrain tires (almost full tread) and want a lift. with a budget boost, are the 31's going to look too small, are the 32's going to look good, or should i also get a body lift and get 33's?

IMO I don't think a 2" lift will make your 31's look too small. I have 31's on mine, and I feel like I could use a 2" lift (especially with my pocket fender flares that angle down). I think you'll want about a 3.5" lift to accomodate 33's...

If it helps any...heres a quick pic of my TJ

After my suspension lift settled and with my body lift i have about 5 inches of lift (3.75 from suspension and 1.25 body) and i'm currently sitting on a set of 32x11.5x15's...i also have tube fenders and flat rears

I'm getting a set of 35's put on soon, though...

Add a 1.25 BL and run 33's. You'll have a 3.25 lift and will still be able to flex out on the trail. Less than $250 in the lift

you got to have the right gears and axles to run bigger tires.

The absolute minimum lift for 33's is 3", and if you wheel, you really need 4". For 31's you can run stock or a BB will look great too.

You dont need a 4" lift to wheel with 33s. You can run 33s with a 2"bb on the street, add a 1.25bl or a 3" suspension and then its offroadable

To prove I'm not just talking out of my ass, here's a quote from Jerry Branford on the minimum lift to run 33's.

"The absolute bare minimum additional clearance I recommend for 33" tires is 3". Period. For offroading, that 3" recommendation becomes 4". To create 3" of additional clearance, you can install a 1" body lift and a 2" BB (budget boost) if you're trying to hold costs down." http://www.wranglerforum.com/f5/98-t...ml#post3295087

If you don't agree, take it up with him, but I think he knows a hell of a lot more than you about the subject.

Then how come I can out flex a tj with 8" of lift and 35s on a rti and another tj with 4" of lift on 33s.

Not to mention the fact that a 33 is only 1.5" larger than stock.
Im running 33s on a 3.25 lift with 1.5" bumpstop. Too many people do what other people tell them to and dont use common sense. Why must you have a 4" lift when your only going 1.5" (radius, which is what matters) over stock tire size.
