Advice for tires?

Hey guys, im new to the site and new to owning a wrangler. I got a '95 Jeep wrangler and i'm looking to fix it up. It is going to be a daily driver but, would also like to go off roading from time to time. When taking it off roading it would just be through the woods. I need some advice on tires. I do got a budget. Under $1,000. But the cheaper the better as long as there good. Thanks guys.

It all depends what you want to do. What size are you thinking? I used to have 31" AT BFG and were very good for basic trail and very nice on the road. There are many choices out there. Now I have TrXus and like them a lot, plus IMHO I think the design kicks ass.

I need tires for daily commute, good in snow, and good for on the trails. Not rock climbing or anything but just in some trails. I do want big tires tho. So, if you guys could help me out id appreicate it alot. I'm new to wrangler and i honestly dont know to much about cars in general. So, if you got some good advice please feel free to reply or message me and if you could send a link to where i could buy them to, that would be GREAT. Thanks.

BFG ATs are great in the snow and OK in mud. Procomp extreme ATs are more aggressive but still nice on the street.

Since you are on a budget, me too, these are a good choice Retread Tires - Buy Retread Tires and Kedge Grip Tires online at TreadWright.com. I have the MTG tread pattern (31x10.5r15) which is similar to the GoodYear MT. They are great off road but are noisy on road. You would probably be better off with the ATB or the AT tread pattern. I think that they would be quieter on road. Don't be scared of retreads, I have had mine since March and have put about 9000 miles on them now and have had absolutely no problems. They also come with a warranty.

Give them a look.

Dan

Funny - all 3 of my suggestions after I read your post have been said.

First thought was BFG AT's. Can't go wrong w/ those. They're in your budget, but kind of pricey - actually either all tires are getting expensive or I'm getting cheap.

I'm narrowing my personal choices between the BFG AT 33's, or ProComp Xterrain AT's in 31's, although I may end up w/ Treadwrights in either 31 or 33. (I've got 2.5" suspension lift)

If anyone finds the BFG 33x10.5's on sale (like buy 3 get 1 free), let me know.

If they made that Xtreme AT in a 32x11.5 or 33x10.5 I'd be all over that.

Hey dude. For driving around here (I'm across the river), I run Firestone Destination A/T's. Not too spendy (Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels has the best prices), great on-road, and solid in dirt. Not great in mud, but solid in snow and on ice- Mark W.
