Does anybody know what the backspacing would be on a wheel with -27mm offset?

Offset to Backspace conversion:

Take offset, divide by 25.4, then add the overall rim width (rim width +1) divided by 2

so: 16x8 with -27 mm offset
-27mm / 25.4 = -1.06" + (((8"+1")/2)= 4.5") = 3.43" BS

Make sense?
With that BS, your wheels are gonna stick out pretty far from your Jeep. IF that's the rim width you're looking at. If not, recalculate.

Where dies the height of the rim factor in? Would a 15x8 rim be the same then?

Diameter of the rim has nothing to do with backspace or offset.

He just used it as an example. Only the width matters. Yes a 15x8 with -27mm offset would be about 3 1/2" of back spacing.
