anyone running 30x9.5 on an 8" rim?

I bought my jeep with 30x9.5 tires on the stock 15x6 steel rims. I want to put wider rims on the jeep and mount the 30" tires on them. They are practically new and I would hate to get rid of them now.

Any issues with this combo? I dont think I will have rubbing on the stock suspension, I am more worried about contact patch and losing bead if I decide to air down on a trail or beach.

My Jeep came from the factory that way.... I never drove it like that so I can't say about airing down.

Stock steelies that came on the yjs. I hate them. They look like pizza cutters.

Are you sure you have 15x6? I think the stock steelies are 15x7.

TJ Saharas came with 30x9.5 on 15x8 alloys. I run that setup. I've heard of people running 30x9.5s on the stock steel 15x7 rims... don't hear of many problems from them.

I can't "swear to it" because I never measured-was told I have the 15x8's and when I got my '04 it had goodyear 30x9.5's on it. at 25k I went to 31x10.5 BFG's-and never looked back.

No good pics on this 'puter let me know and I can get some if you need them.

Okie doke, sounds like they are 15x6. But to directly answer the OP's question, I run 30x9.5s on 15x8 rims (stock gamblers) and everything is fine, no rubbing, 19MPG with the I6.

Actually those rims should be 15 x 6.5,at least that's what my door sticker says on my jeep. I don't see any reason not to get some 15x8 rims with less back spacing for when you want to get larger tires in the future.

Mine came with the 30x9.50 15 GSA tires with the Ravine rims. At 24k I had the tires rotated and got severe DW. I then went to 31 BFG AT tires and all was will until a couple of months ago when I had the tires rotated and DW came back. If I stay away from the bumps, DW doesn't reappear. I thinking about putting 31 BFG KM2 or Baja MTZ tires as the BFG AT's haven't worn very well even with regular rotations and alignments. I only have about 28k on these tires. I had three sets of BFG AT's on a Nissan 4wd pickup and got a lot of miles out of the tires. Going from 30 to 31 tires gave me a little more clearance and made the Jeep look pretty sharp.

Based on some of the other posts------
Feel I left part of the information out-Lil RED now has 140K + miles. I purchased my THIRD SET of the BFGs at 130K-I average about 50-60k a set but do rotate every 5k miles.

For me the BFGS are the best choice.

I used to get almost that with my Nissan truck, but not such luck with the TJ. Maybe the guys at Manny, Moe, and Jack weren't actually doing the rotations or the alignment. Unfortunately, I live in a small town and there aren't too many reputable tire shops around. A friend who owned a TJ recommended them because of their state of the art alignment machine.

I ran 30x9.50 on 15x8 american racing AR23's with no issues on my Tj.
Put the same tires on 15x7 oem wheels on my Yj and the tires rubbed my leaf springs on the front at full turn.

out of curiosity where would you find a 34x9.5?

After driving on these mud tires for a couple of months I cant stand the road noise anymore. I scored 5 canyon rims for under 100 bones. Tire shops want 150 dollars just to mount and balance the new rims so I figure if I am spending that kind of money I may as well spring for new tires and then sell the old ones to try and recoup the cost. getting some 31x10.5 general grabber AT2s.
