backspace

I'm planning on getting 33/12.50r15 for my 02 sport. I know I will need a lift but what I'm confused about is the backspace. I have been told I need 3.75" but I'm not exactly sure what that means. Is there a way that I can know before I purchase tires and wheels what it will be. Any information will be helpful

They will say the backspacing in the description if you order them online. If you are looking in person, set the back side of the wheel down on a flat surface. Measure from the flat surface to the wheel mounting surface. That would be the backspacing.

Just thought of something. If I need at least 3.75 then if I got like a 3.5 I would still be OK but if I got 4 I would be more likely to rub. Is that correct.

Exactly, the smaller the number, the farther they stick out.
